We (me, my mom, Sadie, Blackie, and Rose) were out for our evening walk and while we were about to our half/mile marker, a neighbor who was driving home stopped her car and asked us where we had gotten our Labradors at. So we told her that Blackie was a stray that we had picked up, Rose was his daughter, and Sadie was being raised as a Guide Dog from an orginization based up in Michigan.
She then told us that our dogs were just so beautiful and so well behaved that she had just wondered where we had got them. And when she found out Sadie was only six months old (although I guess she is seven months now) she said, "WoW! She is so well behaved for a six month old!" And then she said that she was such a pretty lab and was just absolutly gorgeous. She then told us that her Labrador has passed away about a year ago and she still wasn't over him, but she really missed having a dog around, but she wasn't sure if she wanted a puppy in the house again. So we told her that if she was looking for an older labrador to check out the shelters because they might have one avalible. It is always nice to be complemented on your kids, especially when it isn't only for their looks, but about how well behaved they are too! And I'm glad that her seeing our dogs was a bit of a comfort to her to get over her old Labs passing. And then we were just talking and she asked me, "Now, are you in college?" and I shook my head and my mom said, "No, she'll be a sophmore in highschool." lol I wasn't sure if that was a complement or not. I took it as one though. And then after she had left, my mom was talking about the college comment she had made and she said, "You are a very mature young lady, and I think your intelligence has something to do with that. You aren't flighty like a lot of girls your age are." And I told her that the really flighty girls drive me nuts, actually. lol Just thought I'd share and brag a little bit about my puppers! ![]() |

Congrats, just an hour ago one of my friends told me he was impressed by just how far Shelby has come from when we first got her. When you are training it is so easy to hang on the negative that you miss all the positive

I thought it was also nice to have someone compliment you on your furbabies, and then they find out that they were originally strays and were cast out like yesterday's trash. It just makes you feel good to give strays a good name and that good dogs don't always come from breeders, you can find them in shelters, rescues, on the streets, just about anywhere!

Way to go girl! You've done so well with those dogs and now you're getting a little reward, not only from them, but from others as well....nice feeling. Well done!
