ah Carrie I want to come for a hike with you some time. I wouldn't be worried about bears with your fierce chihuahua out in front LOL
![]() You 'go run' reminds me of my 'go play'. If I don't tell the dogs "go play" and I am carrying a ball or frisbee they both walk backwards in front of my anticipating a throw. If I say "go play" they know I'm not throwing and they should do their own thing: sniff, run , whatever. These lists really make you realise how much your dogs have learned! |

Basic obedience cues and agility cues...but I don't use a lot of them though. For heeling and the turns (esp used for rally) the dogs pick up on the visual cues and that leaves less for me to mess with.
A few 'fun' or different things... "thank you"-bow "Wave"-wave one paw "Sleep" -down with head on paws "stay"-don't move until I return to your side and release you, you dont have to focus on me "Wait"-watch me, you'll be released very soon, my position will vary "back"-back up "Under" walk between my legs "line up" left finish "around, right finish GoldenPup |

The main ones I can think of are sit, down, off, wait (stay!) playroom, (The room they go into if we go out!) speak, no speak (to stop them barking) and enough (used as a final 'any more and you'll be in trouble' command
)They also recognise words such as kiss, outside, drink, car, breakfast and chicken!! Any mention of chicken and they get very excited ![]() |

our dogs respond better to the Dutch commands, though I can't pronounce them very well. The dogs seem to know what I mean, though.
For the sentences they understand (I know, they understand the tone of voice, etc) I use english. I couldn't say "where's your ball?" in dutch to save my life LOL Schumi, the older dog, understands both the dutch and english commands. Bob, the pup, is still being taught a combination dutch and english and an occasional german word thrown in. I'll have to get the dictionary out this evening and translate them. I can speak (sorta) but not spell the dutch ![]() |

Sit
Down Stand Stay (more formal, precise) Wait (casual) Walk (general loose-leash walking) Heel (our attempt at a formal heel) Shake Wave (sit up and wave paws) Roll Over Crawl Dance (spin in circle on hind legs) Sit Pretty (sit up) Bounce (vertical leap, in place) Scoot (move.) Kennel Up (go to crate) Chair (get on the chair) Go to my bed (go lay on my bed) Go to your bed (go lay in doggie bed) Backseat (get in backseat of car) Shotgun (get in front seat of car) Settle Quit (stop doing whatever you're doing) Get out of the studio! (generally yelled in a scary voice at Hippo) Don't even think about it! (generally when they're eyeing food on the counter) Paws up! (Saboo only... she sticks her paws in the air for me to clip nails) I'll eat you! (Get out of my way quick! This one is fun- All I have to do is look at Hippo and say, "I'll eat you!" and she scoots across the room.) |

we've got the usual array of sit/stay/down/stand/come/heel/roll-over
fall in- left finish go around- right finish (go around to the right, behind me, and end up in heel) front- come sit straight in front of me back - back up get in - come in closer to me get back - get your bum back (usually with left turns) side - heel on the right jail - go in your crate paw- give paw high five- jump up and give both paws chompy teeth - (mushroom only) clack your teeth give - let go of whatever is in your mouth take it- take whatever i'm offering |

Back= back up and bark
No idea how that happened. I need to retrain it with a different word, but I haven't been too motivated to do it. Some how back now means back up and bark. I thought maybe she thought I was saying "bark" but she's never been taught "bark" not in English anyway. I guess I must've reinforced it too many times, although I don't remember ever rewarding her for backing up and barking, but i'll be damned if I can get her to stop now. |

For Shamous:
Sit, stay roll over shake let's go feed the chickens Mine! for when he is bothering the chicks or Ramses Crate where's your ball....he plays goalie for my husband when he kicks his soccer ball leave it (we use that one a lot )want a piggy...(for pig ears ...he loves them that's my emergency recall word) Ramses You can literally show Ramses somethng one time and he gets it. I can teach him anything. I can even make stuff up for a game and he will do it. But his favorite( being a Grey Hound and ex -track dog) and mine Ramses...go race -and he flies!!!!! we have paths mowed through some of the fields on our property and he runs them just like a track. Sometimes now he will even go outside on his own and run the "track" ![]() |

Sit
Stay Down (to get off stuff) Heel Quiet (to stop barking/whining or getting hyper) On the garden (only Abby needs this command, it means to go on the garden and pee) Drop (whatever's in their mouth) Paw Gentle (not to snatch a treat from our hands, we say this and they take it gently) Up Off my lap Out In On your bed Go and get... eg your ball Back (back up) Hmm.. I can't think of any others but I'm sure I've missed a few. |

Hmm...
Sit/Stay/Down Sit Pretty - like saying "beg" but I don't like telling a dog to beg, so I changed it to " sit pretty" Paw - Shake a paw Crate - Go into your crate, do not come out until I saw "okay" Wait - Don't move until I say "okay" Let's Go - If he's smelling stuff he shouldn't be (like other dog's poop and whatever) during walks, I say this to get him to start walking again Look at Me - So he'll look at me and not at other things Those are the ones that I use. He also has been trained with the emergency recall word, but I've never had to use it (thank the heavens) so not sure if he still remembers it, or whatever. ![]() |
