Talking My new Birdie's here!

We went to pick her/him up this afternoon. The bird that I was aiming for didn't really "click" with me, so I decided against him. Instead, this almost three month old chick who had just been weaned grabbed my attention. S/he is a cinnimon white face and because of the mutation, it is extreamly hard to know what sex s/he is. So we'll have to wait for the first molt, because I do believe that if s/he is a cock, then it will have a white face, but if s/he is a hen, then she'll still be grey. And if s/he starts talking before then, then I'll have an educated guess about what s/he is. lol
S/he kept trying to climb out of the cage and would step up readily. S/he even let me, a stranger, hold him/her and s/he wasn't afraid. There was also a hen there that caught my eye in her friendliness, but she was a bit more expensive and with my bird I still have a chance of it being a cock, although I keep calling it a girl.
And s/he will never be a show bird because its wings cross, thus the reduced price, but I'll take a friendly confident bird over a "perfect" bird anyday.

Edited to add....: ACK! I forgot to tell you its name! lol That is the most important part! lol The breeder was calling it Keisly (pronounced Keys-ly) because it was fascinated by her husbands keys and was carrying them around everywhere, but I've decided to change its name to Luna if it is a hen, or Lupin if it is a cock.

So I went on a mass spending spree this morning and spent about 300$ on supplies and a cage. lol It was so much fun. lol I ended up getting a really big cage. It is the 18x24x33'' cage that I wanted to get Abby. Was a bit expensive (110$), but well worth it IMO. Now we just need to redo my room so I have room for it! lol (Right now it is sitting on top of my Cavy's cage, but I don't know how well I like that arrangment.)

Her is the picture of my girl! (Or boy, or whatever! lol)

S/he has really settled in nicely and isn't too afraid. I'm just hoping that s/he won't turn out to be too needy because of the way s/he always wants to sit on your finger and not get off! lol But personally, I'd rather have a needy bird that goes around with you than a bird that refuses to come out of its cage.

Awww, she's darling

I don't know much about birds, but she sounds pretty neat, and sounds like you want a girl bird, for I hope she's a she.. lol.

So pretty! I'm sure you'll have alot of fun teaching him/her to talk and interact. From my limited exposure to birds I have found them to be very entertaining to watch.

My daughter used to have a cockatiel when she lived in Puerto Rico but he wasn't a friendly fellow and would much rather bite your finger than sit on it. I met my 1st parrot (I have no idea of which variety) a couple of months ago and I fell in love with him. He was so friendly with me although his owner was very surprised as in the 2 yrs he has had him I am the 1st person other than him he has gone to much less not tried to bite. I spent a couple of hours with him and would have taken him home with me in a heartbeat if I could have gotten away with him.

LOL for the whole five minutes that s/he had a name, we decided to change it. lol Her parents were named Jasper and Jasmine, so her name will be Jazz. And it goes both ways too, fit for a boy or girl.

She sure is pretty. My friend got a three month old that isn't nearly as pretty as yours for some reason. Hers is a male, so maybe yours really IS a girl. You and I both made a nice addition to our family today. Isn't it exciting!! Keep us up on all the pictures and newsy things.

Last night she was up and active while I was getting ready for bed, so I put the Ferts up and took her out. She sat on my shoulder while I was reading and was very content to chew on my hair! lol She was grinding her beak and she fell asleep on my shoulder for a short period of time, but then I woke her up when I turned the page. lol So aside from her pooping on my night shirt once, it was all very nice.

So I'm very happy with her and how friendly and courious she is even though she is still in a new invironment. She is also pretty quiet: I've only heard her make noise a couple of times and even that was soft. Here's hoping that when she is more at home here her personality will blossom even more!

Although my mom doesn't like the name Jazz...so she's trying to find a different name for her. *shakes head* It has to be a uni-sex name and I'd love a name that reflects her markings (she either reminds me of the moon or ocean waves, I haven't decided yet. lol), or her parentage.
