Long Time no Post
Just thought I would drop by and let you all know what's been up in our world....
Some of you may remember that my Aunt was real sick with lung cancer that had spread. Unfortunately she wasn't able to fight it any longer and passed away on July 6th after a lengthy illness in the hospital. We were all with her when she passed, actually saying the Lord's Prayer, I was holding her hand. It was very tough but she was suffering at the end so it was a blessing in the same turn. The kids are keeping me busy. My oldest Gabe started soccer this year (yes I am a soccer mom!) and he has games or practice every Tuesday and Thursday. We have spent a lot of time at the lake, enjoying some sort of coolness as it is hot as heck here as well. Gunnar was nuetered two weeks ago, that went well. Neva was in at the same time to get her teeth cleaned, talk about expensive stuff all at once, was over $400 for the both of them but I am happy we got it done. Gunnar got some bad news though, the Doctor performed some sort of test to see if he was at risk of HD, sure enough he tested positive on both sides when they extended his back legs and popped them into the socket. Vet's input was that although he may be asymtomatic now he will most likely develop arthritis down the road. Hopefully with good diet and exercise we can avoid this. Gunnar weighed in at a whopping 84 lbs. I didn't expect that! His backbone still sticks up so he could stand to gain another five the vet said but I will try to keep him where he is to decrease the chances of developing the HD even further. I hope to have a chance to post a bit more now that the summer is winding down. I've missed you all and have snuck a peek now and then at whats going on on the forum but it's just not the same! Edit to add: We added a new member to our family, we now are the proud owners of Cinda, a female chincilla, she was breaking my heart at our Feed store, was there for over eight months and everytime I went to get dog food I would debate whether or not to add her to our family. She was in just the smallest cage imaginable and I eventually couldn't stand it anymore so now she is ours! That makes three rabbits, one mouse, one chin and two dogs, farm life here I come! |

Welcome back! I'm so very sorry to hear about your aunt. That really is terrible... but she's at peace now and no longer suffering.
Also very sorry to hear about the HD in Gunnar He has a good mommy though, so I'm sure you can help hold it off as best as you can! What a big boy! Do you have any updated pictures of the bunch? ![]() Congrats on your new addition! |

Hey welcome back. I wondered where you'd disappeared to.
I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. I'm glad you were all with her at the end though. I'm also sorry to hear about Gunnars hips. Glad he's with you though, I know you'll do your very best to help him and if he has any chance of avoiding arthritis in the furture, it'll be with you under your care. Give him a hug for all of us....and Neva too (oh and don't forget your mum's gorgeous girl, Katya..you know how much I love her). Congrats on the new furkid. I just adore Chinchillas...although it's from a distance, since we don't have them in Australia. I'd certainly love to see pictures of her too. Once again...welcome back. It's lovely to see you again. Cass. |
