Visitors, agility, and more!

I've got all sorts of reasons to be excited:

We have puppies coming up from New Orleans and being adopted out through the shelter I work for. It's so heartbreaking but exciting having these transports stop in.

I've had a visitor lately. His name is Leo, and he's a gorgeous 80 lb pit bull of some sort (I'm thinking american bulldog perhaps). He's a wonderful sweet boy that I'm fostering/dogsitting. He and Hippo wrestle all day long and then he snuggles in bed with me until Joe gets home. Then he gets booted to the couch. I'm falling a little bit in love though- he's simply beautiful and so well mannered and appropriate. Pictures soon, I promise.

The most exciting thing ever though, is that Hippo begins agility training this evening. As much as I would have loved to have Saboo and Hippo training with the same trainers and at the same facility, the scheduling factor just wasn't going to work, so Hippo and I will be working with someone else. I absolutely adore her and her border collies though, so hopefully it'll be good. Besides, the more methods you expose yourself to, the more you learn, right?

On the downside, the shelter is experiencing a panleuk outbreak and the cats are dropping like flies despite our best efforts. I'm cried out about that though.

It's nice to see you are giving the pitty mix a great foster or maybe even a forever home. It's so sad to see the larger pit mixes that stay in the shelter becuse most people are looking for those small young ones. Even some of the tiny ones are overlooked if they are over 4 or 5 years old. It's a shame.
Sorry to hear the cats are being taken over with this disease. How horrible that must be on all of you that work and volunteer there.

Oh, I hope you keep Leo. It sounds like you're hopelessly in love. LOL.

That is a real shame about the cats. You're good to put your time and care in at the shelter. Let us know how things come along.

I certainly can't keep Leo. As much as I'd love to have such a sweet pittie, it's not an option. My coworker has him spoken for but needs to sort out her living situation before bringing him home. In the meantime, there's no reason for him to be all stressed out at the shelter if I have an empty couch.

Aside from that, my boyfriend is kind of intimidated by large dogs. It's not just pits, but anything that he feels he can't physically control. Right now, since he's responsible for on-leash potty breaks when I'm not home, I really can't hold it against him. When we have a fenced yard, it'll be a different story though!

Okay, everyone, come oogle over Leo. This is his photo that our photographer took at the shelter- I'll be taking more soon.

Any thoughts as to what kind of pit he is? He's incredibly squishy and snuggly and soft and I love him, if that helps at all.
