I thought since I know of another forum that does this, I thought what do you think?
It’s called a ‘meet-up’ or a ‘retreat’. What this is, is a time and a place where people from the forum would have a meet-up day. This is when people from the same town would meet-up (in this case with dogs or any of your furry friends or just people) at a local park, someone house, or a bunch of us go do something. A ‘retreat” is a meet-up/ get together (with or without are furry-friends) to meet in an agreed city or state. Those who could, can fly there. We all would stay at a hotel (those who attend would help chip in for the cost), rent a townhouse, or stay at the persons house (if offered) in that city and state. We could check out local amusements parks, etc. I think you must be at least 18yrs of age (sorry, I just don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea) or have a written consent from your parent(s) or guardian. This is a great way to meet other people and make friends. The other forum that does this loved it. And after the meet-up or retreat they would post pictures to let those who could not attend, see what they were missing. My fiancée has done it, and it is so neat how many friends he has now because of this and how they share thoughts and ideas. I am not sure what the majority age group is but just a thought I share. |

I was going to plan a GlobalPaw convention somewhere when we hit 10,000 members (only 9,500 left..)...I doubt you'll get a large group together right now...simply because we are still growing.
I think it is a good idea, though. |

What's really cool is that there are breed-specific events, and a lot of people attend these events. For example, there is something called Dewey Greyhounds Reach the Beach, and I think half of the East Coast grey people go there. Well, Left Coasters felt left out so somebody came up with the idea of Solvang Greyhound Festival. It's just like Dewey and has vendors with people selling food items, collars, beds, toys, etc. and there are activites that you can take part of. It's just like a huge gathering of Greyhound people with everything devoted to the dog [Greyhound]. I'm not sure if any other breed has these(?), but GT Dewey-goers meet in one place and dine and *ahem* drink a few
I've heard it's a load of fun and I want to go to the Solvang Greyhound Festival, but I probably won't. |

Kim's idea is the most ideal for me, because I wouldn't be able to travel much until I get my drivers' license... And by then, I don't think my parents would mind at all as long as they knew where I was going..
I hope we could do that in the future, it sounds like so much fun and it would be so great to be able to meet and talk to some of you... And, bonus if we could bring our dogs, so everyone could see each others' pups. ![]() |

It sounds like a lot of fun. For me, I have trouble even driving the 6 hour drive to visit my kids and family. No one wants to have four dogs in their house or my kids have apartments where you can't have dogs. And I have trouble finding a trustworthy house sitter. So, there's the one drawback of multiple dogs. LOL. It's a pain to travel.
But if anyone wants to have it in North Idaho where I live, there are resorts, camping grounds on the lake here and one hotel and 400 miles of hiking trails and beaches to let the dogs run on. No leash laws, no dog parks, few people....just wilderness. I'm sure it is difficult for most of us to travel very far. |

Remember: That if it is to difficult or not possible to bring are four legged loved ones, then we two legged humans can just meet . (it would be fun to have our dogs play and met each other though.) |
