I would like to become a dog handler for the police, but it would take too long and then there's no garuntee that i'd get in with the dog section, im also too soft lol i'd be letting everyone go with warnings lol.
I have been looking into working with the Guide Dogs but there's nothing no-where around where i live. I mean there's the local vets and i have been thinking of becoming a Veterinary Nurse but i'd rather be with dogs. I could become a security officer and there might be a possability of working with a dog but im not too sure. I've tried searching for information but im not having much luck. Mostly people nowadays don't want a piece of paper saying what you've done they want experience. Im just really confused, on what i want to do career wise. I love dog's, i want a doberman... really want one. But since they can be a one person dog and they do crave alot of attention i would love a job where i could take him to work lol... in my dreams maybe. |

I don't know what some of those letters mean. I flunked "Lingo", remember.
Carrie is right, you needs a lot of patience. That being said, if you have more patience with dogs than with people, it sounds like you would really like to train working dogs. I don't know how things work in the UK, but here, many government agencies buy their dogs already trained. You could look into what your country's K-9 providers require from apprentice trainers. You know how to make a million dollars working with dogs, don't you? Start with 2 million. ![]() Kit |

dobermans, while they love their people, are not just "one person dogs" in the sense that they dont get along with other dogs.
and they CAN be left home while you go to work. they may prefer not to be, but they can ![]() |

I know doberman's can be left alone whilst you go to work, but if i had one then i'd like to be with me when i was working (sounds stupid doesn't it
) lol.Im still interested in becoming a police officer but in the North Wales branch there is no dog handling section so i'd have to be transfered to another town or city. Im just not sure what to do, i am thinking of doing another qualification in animal care and whilst im on that im thinking of becoming a "Special Consatble" (i think that's how it's spelt lol) it's a police offcier that does not get paid and only works a few hours a week patroling their community, it might give me an insight into what it's like maybe. Still very unsure but this is the only plan i have so far Thanks for the advice, you guys have provided so far very much appreciated ![]() |
