OMG I found this spider!
While Chloe and I were on our walk she decided it would be a great idea to play in the tall gass on the side of our trail. I saw something move, went in for a closer look and found this!
http://www.treknature.com/gallery/photo1024.htmWith it's legs open it would cover the palm of my hand . I have never seen one of these before so I had to do some research and found that they are harmless to humans and very common all around the country.WHHEEEEWWWW! For a moment I thought I had stumbled on some kind of crazy deadly spider. Has anyone encountered these colorful giants? They are amazingly beautiful, and terribly horrific all in one. Just had to share! Lindsey |

That is truly an amazing feat of nature. Really, quite beautiful. Thanks for sharing. That must have been really something to come across on your walk.

That is a pretty neat spider. I don't know if I would have been brave enough to have a closer look like you did. I can enjoy the beauty on a photo but not in real life. I would have walked away as fast as I could with my skin crawling, resisting the urge to squeal like a little school girl.

I had one of them at my house last summer.
Scared the bejeepers outa me. I went to grab a few groceries, and some take out. My hands were full, and I see this thing on our siding next to the door. Of course it surprised the heck outa me, so I scream, dropped everything in my hands. My husband comes running out and is busting up laughing at me. Now im NOT scared of spiders, but the size and color of this thing surprised me. ![]() |

Oh GOSH!! You can see the hair on it's legs and everything. That is a great picture!! I'm pretty scared of spiders. Not scared enough to scream ( unless it's crawling on me ) but scared enough that I have my husband go get them and take them outside if I see one in my house. When he is not home and I have to catch it, my heart is pounding in my chest by the time I am done.

I actually love spiders and leave the harmless ones alone to roam my house and take care of bugs. These guys sound like whoppers! |

I've never seen one like that, but I recognize it from somewhere... I know the feeling, once when I was cycling in the country I came across a big fat spider like that one but all black. I stayed for ages watching it -I love spiders. I think it was a black widow.
Until then I didn't know they lived in Spain, but the book said so, and who am I to argue? |

oh man, i used to run into those everywhere running thru my grandparents hay fields as a kid. They were everywhere, big fat spiders with big fat webs, it was kind of cool. We used to play "war" games a lot, so we'd crawl thru the fields to get each other and look up and be staring at a spider like that. I'd rather run into a spider than a snake
