Police dog and pet, Saxon, under threat of destruction-please read and help.
Hi folks. Thank you for caring enough to read this.
Saxon Townley is a 5 year old GSD police dog in the UK. The Gwent (Wales) police force haven't renewed his license and want to destroy him because it is 'the responsible thing to do'! Although his v. experienced handler Mike (fully trained police and Home Office dog handler) has offered him a loving, secure, rural, pet home in Wales. Saxon's family are desperately fighting to save his life and give this heroic dog a forever pet home. If you feel that you can, PLEASE go to this site / link below and sign the petition to try and save him. TIME IS NOT ON SAXON's side. IF the link below doesn't work, please copy the address in to your browser. Just cut and paste, making sure that you get the whole address. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/S...CEDOGSAXON999/ The piece of the link that you cannot fully read here reads: SAVE_POLICE I'm not sure why but when forwarding the link, or copying it to somewhere else, you have to type in the missing bit, other wise it won't open. Even if you feel that you do not wish to sign PLEASE PASS THE ADDRESS ON to anyone else who cares, esp' if they are in another country. Thank you, God bless. ![]() |

Please type in the missing piece and forward it. The more signatures we have the better his chances of going home. He's currently in police kennels awaiting his fate. |

Aggggghhhhhh !
The last I heard is that the Police are going to rehome somewhere else other than the person who has been it's handler for the last few years ?????? Extremely strange. They are saying that it's not suitable to stay with the family, it didn't seem to be a problem when it was with them as a working dog though did it?

Hold on guys. Someone has posted this on another board as well.
The officers wife? This dog has bitten and the department seems to think the dog is a liabilaty. That is what I have gotten out of it so far. I'll see if I can get the thread. |

When Saxon FIRST went in to training he misread Mike's actions (his handler) and bit him by MISTAKE, when he started his training. The police were fine with that and Saxon completed his training and went on to work as a police dog out and about. Even the police must have accepted that it was a handler error, otherwise they would not have let the dog continue training and certainly not have let him work for three, or four years. This dog and his handler have a personal letter of commondation from the Chief Constable.
It's like the dog's being punished for making a mistake when he was learning his trade. A trade the police were trying to teach him! This dog has saved many from danger, we need to save him. He's being offered a forever home in a SECURE family home miles from anywhere. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/S...CEDOGSAXON999/ |

I have not heard that Sax was to be offered another retirement home. He was assessed by the Prision Office as a potential patrol dog but they didn't want him. (That's not a great life anyway. Many of those dogs spend most of their time in kennels and only get to do a patrol route round a prison. Why should he have to undergo this stress and not get his loving retirement home?)
