Dog Fancy was written for us, this month! :D
I laughed when I got my Dog Fancy issue this month, as it covered alot of topics we've been talking about here- including designer mixes, and Siberian Huskies.
It features the Westie, for anyone interested.GreenLeaf, I have to tell you, I think it was another sign... Next month's feature breed is Greyhounds, and there was a big article in this month's issue about your dog being a blood donor (I'm looking into fostering from HemoPet, and some- maybe all- their dogs are retired blood donors ). Good stuff! ![]() |

Really!!! *STILL cursing under breath* I never got my issue!!!! What the heck!? I just renewed my subscription though my niece's stupid magazine drive...those things always take like a month to go through *sigh*.
Yeah, I've heard of Hemopet. I went through all the adoption groups existing in California during my adoption group hunt. I never really delved into the So Cal groups, so your guess is as good as mine regarding Hemopet. You should really re-join GT once you get the duckies in a row and your rifle ready (jk jk ). We have a few blood donors and you'll soon find out that Greyhounds were made for donating blood. They have a unique build that allows them to pump their own weight in blood within seconds and I believe they have more red blood cells(?). I don't remember clearly, but it's in RRGfD. *muttering* I've been waiting for years for Greyhounds or Pekingeses as the featured breed! Grrr, they better send that issue!!!! |

One of the GT members e-mailed me to voice her support privately- her and her husband adopted a Grey from Hemopet. The article mentioned Greyhounds being perfect because their blood is universally accepted (is that the right terminology? Best I can do right now, I'm tired! lol)
I've been getting Dog Fancy for years ('97? '99?), and the Greyhound has been featured once before. I was just looking through that issue the other day. I don't remember appreciating the article very much, so I don't know how good it was. Never seen the Peke on the front, and can't remember seeing it sub-featured at all! I should look through my mags again, though, and see if I can find any with the Peke. I'd happily send it to you, as I just have piles of Dog Fancys accumulating. lol Hopefully your issues will start arriving soon! |

I got my issue a few weeks ago. They always have some interesting articles, but in this issue, they had the "Designer Breed" thing, and they interviewed IDIOTS
. "They're in demand right now, so why not?" But I was so excited they featured the Westie, which is one of my FAVORITE breeds. Besides, my neighbors have two of them, and they're not very good at watching them--they don't have a fence and the dogs run in the street. SOOO, I am either copying the article or buying them a copy of the December issue and highlighting the part where it says, "A fence is a must for Westie owners" and giving it to them. Maybe THEN they'll get a stupid fence or at LEAST a dog run. I think I'll find a good trainer and give them a card, too....they're dogs are SO untrained. ![]() |

You need to contact 'em Rip. I think that happened to me once after renewing, and I believe I didn't get anything for a couple months, then I got them all at once- if I remember correctly.
Don't normally have any problems though. ![]() |

Yeah I know. That happened to me for awhile. I'd get a September issue and then a November issue the day after. And then when I renew, it takes months!

TAD, this post has made me really interested in Hemopet, now. Do you have a website because I think that they do not have a site? I never looked into Hemopet; just skimmed through the name Lol. Anyways, any time you feel like it's right to foster, please don't hesitate to come back to GT. They're really a comical, knowledgable bunch once you get past some minor hostility. Luckily for me, they were nice 99.9% of the time. |

Hmm...That's odd. I've never seen such chubby looking Greyhounds. Are these dogs fresh off the track or have they been fostered? A few of them look like the right weight, but the majority look like they've been retired for a long time if you know what mean
I don't mean to be rude, but that picture of Hogan is appalling. Unless he came from a family who made him that way, or he's just naturally chubby (but even then...), or there was a special situation, imo, NO Greyhound should look like that! Beautiful markings, though Nice program, too. |
