Anyone wanna see hurricane disaster pics?

I was in chatting with Gaddy and Milo, and somehow started talking about how the weather was in our area! Besides me being in the Sunshine State, it's also known as the Hurricane State! Haha..

After we were hit with the 2 out of 3 hurricanes this past season, I took some pics of the damage, and of the wind blowing.

I thought it may be interesting for someone to see if they've never been in one! (most anyone who isn't on the East Side of the US! I'd believe!)

The winds in the beginning started out comming from the North, and then after the eye passes over (very calm) the winds will pick up from the South... Luckily we didn't get the North part of it, because that's the strongest part of the hurricane!

These were through the first one that hit us.. Frances. Mind you the first few wind pics are only the BEGINNING of the strong winds.. We shouldn't have really been out there in the first place, but my mom and I couldn't help it... I have a really funny short video clip of the wind, and I scared my mom.. I think it's hilarious but I can't find any place that will host my video for free!

You can see how there was a gust of wind in the 2nd...

*If you're wondering why we have the car up to the house, it's because the winds can be strong enough to blow over your car, or debris will fly aruond and can damage your car*

*After the hurricane*

*Street sign ended up in our yard, so we brought it up on the porch until the storm was over*

*WAS a carrot wood tree, the 2nd pic was the half that was in our yard, the other half was in our neighbors about 2 houses down*

*This tree snapped off and fell between the houses, next to my room

and the 2nd pic was after cut all the branches off of it*

*Neighbors fence to keep her garbage cans... tree broke it... aww too bad! (we don't like her LOL)*

*Neighbor across the street*

*Another view of the carrot wood*

*Oak Tree, hardly any leaves*

*This lady was REALLY lucky, she has palm trees around the whole sidewalk in front of her house*

*Down the street*

*Tree that had totally fallen over, above, looks like carpet don't it?*

*Had to use the grill and sit outside for about a week since we had no power! That's my boyfriend on the left, my brother next to him, and my momma cookin!*

**2nd Hurricane - Jeanne**

*Had a lake in our front yard

*Bush beside the house fell over, my mom wanted to take it out anyways! LOL*

*Member the tree in the above pics that was big and bushy and next to our car? Well, it snapped at the top! Had to be cut down!*

*Neighors behind us. Most of the privacy fences in the neighborhood blew over!*

*Remember the lady that had the first palm tree go down? Well, these are the others that fell! She had 4 trees all together go down!*

OK, it is so official right now--I am going to stay safe and sound. I love Virginia and all those places, but I am staying away from there! I'm happy up here in safe IL!!! Heck, maybe I'll be even safer in Wisconsin!

OMG!!!! How scary and what a mess. I'm sure glad you came out all right! Shame on you for going out where a tree could have fallen on you! LOL. Naughty, naughty! But anyhow, totally awesome photos. I bet you'll never forget that. Thanks for sharing.

WOW where are u at IceyBlueSibes? My stepson lives in PuntaGorda..they got it horrible there..still no windows..man I dont know if I could handle that..

I live in Florida, on the East Coast. We got pretty much a direct hit from both Jeanne and Frances....

Hurricanes, well, to me atleast, aren't too bad. It kinda depends on where you're staying during the storm, like if your house is well built or what not. Most houses here have to be built upon hurricane standards, or something like that.
I've lived here all my life, so I'm used to it

But if it's a Category 4-5... I'M OUTTA HERE!

Last two were 2-3...

You guys sure you don't wanna listen to the wind howl and whistle, while you hear thump thump on the roof and outside?

I was in the Cayman Islands during hurrican Ivan.
This is a pic of my car at the peak of the storm. The water is about 6 feet deep in spots and this is my car floating away. About 5 minutes later both windshields were crushed in and it sank.

This one is of our living room. The surge was so strong that it busted in the front and back doors. At its highest it was more than 5 feet high. You can see the different water lines on the wall.

This final one is of my house the day after the storm. There used to be a living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom where the gaping hole is now.

We were stuck on the top floor of our condo with 10 people, 3 dogs and 2 cats for 3 days before we could get out of the house. It has been nearly 2 months and only downtown has power and consistant water. My school was moved to South Portland, Maine but my husband had to stay behind for his job.
