well, ive grown up with german working dogs and the like, and their temperament has always fit my family.

loving with the family while at the same time protective of the family, discriminatory, intelligent, willingness to work, a thinking dog, suspicious of strange things, beautiful to look at, loves to cuddle, a strong presence, you name it -
everything that bowie is

We said we were looking for a dog that was not too young but not too old and was good with children. Instantly the volunteer said, "I have the perfect dog for you. Let me go get her." And once we saw Fiona, we instantly fell in love with her. What broke my heart though is that as we were getting ready to leave the shelter, a little girl started crying, because we had just adopted the dog they were going to get.
Oh gosh! That must've been strange.....two families wanting one dog, one getting that perfect pup and the other a little upset. I'm sure she got over it.....maybe they got a little pup or something...and anyways, you knew Fiona was the one for you . Isn't strange how that happens? You just know it and the dog knows it too .

My Mom knew I was looking to getting a small dog and she suggested I get a Dachshund. After doing reaserch on the breed. I found a Breeder in my area that is a vet tech. A big + for me. I visited her Dachshund Mommy and puppies many time to me making my decision. I finally decided this was the breed for my family. From the shape of there face looking like a Golden Retriever only a bit smaller, to there temperment and cleverness. Not to mention there naturally free of doggie odor. This is what sold my DH on the breed. Since Lyndsay wanted a dog as bad as I did. He agreed we could get one and keep it in the house. Hes never been fond of keeping dogs in the house. Now, My Lil'Mia has stole his heart too. Now, I have a Doxie that is my . Mia~mine thats what her name means..I couldn't imagine my life without my Mia.

Well let's see..... our first dog, Blackie, we got because we were looking for a dog (my parents were looking at pre-trianed German Shepherds but they were REALLY expensive). Somebody that used to work with my dad had found a lab puppy (Blackie) and had put up flyers but nobody had called. They couldn't keep the dog because they already had 3 (I think) Greyhounds. They told my dad about him and so we went to see him. We all liked him and so we took him.

Our next dog, Brownie we didn't really 'choose'. She picked us. She had wandered into our yard one day and she stuck around after that. We started feeding her and bought her a dog house. After she had the puppies and they were just beggining to eat dry food, she was chasing a car and ran into it breaking her back. So in other words, she got hit. I was really sad when she died.... I was only 6 at the time too....

I picked Rose out of the litter of Brownie's pups to keep because she looked the most like Brownie and was really sweet. (Although, I was debating between her or Sam, another one of my fav. pups.)

I have always had Border Collies ~ they are wicked smart and crazy! An endless supply of energy to say the least!

This past time - I specifically chose a rescue BC. I wanted to give an unwanted BC a good home. I had actually planned on doing Agility with him - but due to some underlying issues from his "prior life" he has a terrible fear of stairs/ladders/etc. so.... he has become an awesome Flyball dog instead!!!
