Weird!
I've just come back from walking Finn. On the way to the park we met a man who, as we were walking past him, called Finn and patted him. Finn, I am ashamed to say, went bananas and jumped on him. The man laughed, and told him to bite the a woman who was with him. The woman said, as I recall, "is it a dog or a bitch?" when I answered that he was a dog, she said, "he's in heat, isn't he?" When I repeated that he was a dog, in case she hadn't heard me right, she said "yes, I know", and when I told her that males don't have heats, she looked at me, all surprised, said "really?" looked at me again, a sort of "whose leg do you think you're pulling" look and went away. The man said she had a female dog.

Now, males don't go in heat, do they? I'm all worried now. Someone put my mind at rest, I might go mad. Though it would be superfluous as I already am mad.

no, males don't have heat cycles. The "heat" is when a bitch is ready to be bred, through ovulation and hormone changes... definitely NOT a male problem!

Rep Power: 0 doharty has a good mark in the dog forum.
My dad is one of those who calls peoples dogs randomly. Especially gaurd dogs, the place where he gets his car worked on has this pitbull/boxer (I think) mix that... does a good job gaurding the garage. Well my dad made peace with the dog in a few minutes and had it laying on its back while he gave her a bellyrub. The mechanic was mortified. Unfortunatley he does this with my dogs too. ):
