The Traveling Pup
Starting Monday I have to relocate my office for a month at one of our remote offices about 175 miles south of here. I found a hotel in the nearest town that will allow small pets, so I can keep my Boonster with me. A month is a long time for him to have to stay in a little hotel room. I'm hoping he'll adjust okay.
Do you guys have any suggestions on things I could do for him while we're there to make his stay better? Other than the obvious of bringing all of his toys and comfort things from home, of course. I need help brainstorming. LOL |

The first thing I would do when you get in the hotel room is to put him in his crate where he can see you getting settled in, and the open the door. When he's ready to roam around the room and explore, let him. The sooner he sniffs out every crevice in the room, the sooner he will settle down. He's young and should be pretty adaptable.
Another thing: don't make it a big deal. Act just like you always would. |

I agree. Let him get used to the room, sniffing around and making sure everything is good. How many times a day do you usually exercise him? I'd try and bring him out for little walk/potty breaks.

Thanks, flyndog. Didn't think about bottled water.
I take him for walks (depending on Oklahoma weather, of course) about 3 or 4 times a week. So I'm hoping to keep that up. And he's not a barker at all, in fact, he's JUST NOW starting to bark when someone comes to the door. So I don't anticipate problems there. I talked to my dad last night and if it doesn't work out with him staying in a hotel that long, then my parents would love to have their grand-dog stay with them. Actually, I think he kinda got a little "dad giddy" when I asked if it would be okay. He's such a nut for my dog. LOL. So I have a back up plan, if needed. |

Oh and Carrie - I don't know about him coming to work with me. I wondered about that too. Maybe one or two days a week I could bring him in with me. We would both love that, especially him. But I'll have to see how things go first.
