Classified ads...this one is both good and bad...
"We have 2 purebred pedigree boxers that are in need of a home very soon. The female is 2 years old and the male is 2.5 years old. We are asking a small adoption fee for the both of them. We were going to breed them, but now that we have to move, it isnt possible. They are both dual registered, fawn with blask masks. The male is around 65/70 pounds and the female is around 45/55 pounds. They are both in good health, they both come w/ crates, bedding, food, toys, dishes and certified papers with pedigrees. They are looking for a loving home. If you are looking for a great pet, send us an email back and you can come and check them out! They are looking forward for a fun, loving, caring family to go home to really soon:-) "
I'm sad that two Boxers need to be rehomed, but thank God they aren't breeding! (And, just thought I'd say, if anybody is interested, the dogs are located in Fisher, Indiana...check on petfinder.com (classified ads section) for more info.) And you don't know how sick I get when I see ads like, "For sale or trade: Boston Terrier! Will trade for an unweaned parrot, or ferrets, or a small Yorkie puppy." or "Cocker Spaniel for trade! Will trade for a small female Schnoodle puppy!" *gag* Who could just trade their dog like that? Makes me sick. ![]() |

I sure hope the people that take them Boxers in have them spayed and neutered, unless they plan on proving their ability.
And I agree about the second type of ad. They are so common. We just picked up Whisper last week, and one of the ladies that works with my husband simply could not understand why we'd drive hundreds on miles and pay so much for a dog. She actually brought him the classified ads to show him the "cheap" dogs. All he could do was shake his head. He said he'd leave it up to me to explain the "Why"! |

Ack! I hate ads like that last one too. I'm not sure about the first one...it sounds good but I agree that they should be fixed before they're adopted. Hope that's how it works out.
I just read an ad in my local news paper that made me laugh and feel sad at the same time. It was for "Mini Swedish Husky pups....Pure bred....very rare breed!" Yeah...Of course they are. It's sad that there will be dozens of people out there thinking that these people are telling the truth. It did cross my mind that these idiots just didn't know the name for 'swedish vallhund' but *shrugs* they're probably just mix breed pups. Anyhoo...the pet section in the paper makes me so mad. Cass. |

Ritz - These people do not deserve those dogs so I am hopeful that they find a home that does, and at least now there is a chance they won't be breed unlike before.
Novel - You should see some of the reactions we got over driving some 500 miles and paying over $400 for a rescue pup ![]() |

There were IWH puppies in our local paper a couple of weeks ago. I was livid! They are not dogs to be gotten on a whim. Well, no dog is, but certainly not IWHs. There has been so much effort to breed a healthier IWH that to see this kind of BYB makes me ill.

Don't worry Novel, I was confused too. lol
Classifed ads bug me to death...Some are actually from people who honest to goodness just can't keep their dog (I saw an ad that was trying to place a PitBull...I felt so bad for the lady. Her son litteraly couldn't breathe when the dog was around and he keeps crying that he is the reason they have to find a new home for the dog...), but most just make my blood boil. And the ads that say, "We have no time for anymore" and the dog is only seven weeks old...that irks me. ![]() |
