I LOVED Vegemite until one morning, I was about 9 years old and I was staying at my grandparent's place. I was eating Vegemite on toast and my uncle came up to me and said "You know, Vegemite will grow if you leave the lid off the jar". That made me go straight off it and I haven't had it since!! Before that I used to bring Vegemite on toast to school for lunch... every day!

Yes...very salty and almost 'stock' like. You can actually use it as a stock. It's especially good in gravy and beef stews.
It's yeast extract, made from a beer by-product. Another reason Aussies love it.

it is salty but very addictive
