Hello I'm Back
Whew it’s been a while since I posted. There is good reason too. I’ve had lots happen to me in the last five weeks.
As you know my Mother and I were anxiously anticipating our trip down South to my winter place in Florida and were packing our belongings and preparing our northern home for a winter hibernation. We had prepared everything possible ahead of time so we would have very little to contend with when it came time to pack up our belongings, the kitties and Brandi and hit the road for warmer climes. The first snag in our plans came on October 4th with a routine trip to my doctor for a check on my medication levels. All blood levels were within the normal range, however my heart rate was very low. I had this same check last June and all levels were normal and my heart rate was normal. So I told the doctor that I couldn’t understand how my heart rate could go from 68 to 41 without some kind of symptoms. He set up an appointment with a cardiologist for me the following day. Snag number two came about on October 11th when with a heart rate of 37-35 I ended up being transported by ambulance 70 miles to our local heart center and had emergency surgery to have a pace maker implanted in my partially working, very tired heart. So now I have joined the ranks of the card-carrying cardio patients all over the world that have a list of dos and don’ts to follow. I am well enough and strong enough now that I have no restrictions on activity or food and feel fortunate that my condition was stumbled on so soon before there was any damage to the muscle of my heart. Our trip to Florida has been completed with the assistance of my daughter who helped with the driving. She has helped us get ourselves back to somewhat of a routine. She will remain with us until Thursday Morning to help with the unpacking and lifting heavier things for me because I’m still restricted on lifting over 0 pounds and will be for another 3 weeks or so. I’m not quite myself yet but hope to be able to keep up with the boards a little more now that I’m not so pressed to get things under control. Brandi had her first real adventure in the car and she was just such a love. She had her own seat with her blankie and pillow, which we arranged to make a sweet soft nest for her and she just sat in her seat and slept without a peep of complaint. She’s just now learning about our new house here in Florida but I know from experience it’ll take her a very short time to adjust. |
