Dog constantly escaping, here's the story...

Here is the story I posted on another board...

Quote:
Okay, some of you may remember the post I had about Ike, the Siberian Husky that I babysat for my friend. Well anyhow... he has been comming to my house for the past 5 days in a row. First two times, I walked him back home... As we crossed the street the first time, he yelped and jumped back, and hesitated to go into the neighborhood. I thought it was a little strange, but proceeded to take him home. They took him inside and were thanking me. So he comes over AGAIN the next day. I let him say hello to my 3, and walked him back home. A different girl comes and answers the door this time... she said to him "Get the F* in here" and thanked me. As I was walking down the drive way, I heard her screaming at the dog...

So now I figured okay so maybe they will have some brains to make sure the dog doesn't run off again, since they know he will.

Well I went to a party, and my mom said he came back again that morning, and was there for 3 hours. My mom was fed up with bringing him back, so we kept him at the house and waited for them to come and get him. We don't mind him comming here, he is such a sweet and well behaved little (HAH.. little) boy. So they came by and said "Have you seen Ike" and my mom is like "Yep, been here all day" so she let Ike out, and grabed him by the nape of the neck (has no collar, no tags, no chip) and put him in the car. My mom said as soon as she got in the car, she hit the dog. My mom wasn't happy.

So again this morning, at 8:30, he was here. He yelped (he has a woosy bark) to get in. So my mom let him in... well they came by again, and my mom asked, well is your fence broken? She's like yeah but they never came when they were supposed to" so my mom was like "okay ever heard of a leash ?" She's like " yeah but as soon as i opened the door he shot off right from out in front of me" and my mom said when she started calling him, he would NOT with her, she said he cowared and she had to call him several times. My mom said, "He obviously doesn't want to go with you for some reason" She's like "Yeah thats cause she knows he's gunna get a BEATEN from James when he gets home" My mom was like "Excuse me? You better NOT beat that dog" So she finally got him into the car and leaned in behind james (friends dad) and said "Don't BEAT the dog" and turned around and gave my mom a nasty look. She said they sat there for a min, and my mom just stared at the truck. She couldn't see what they were doing though because the windows are tinted.

SO my mom told me if he shows up again, to not release him. She said when shes home, she'll call the police and animal control, and take it up with them... she said if he shows up here again, their not getting their dog back...

My dad saw the girl hit the dog, and my mom and brother heard the girl , quote on quote, "He knows he's gunna get a beaten when he gets home!"

Ugh I am SO MAD!

Poor Ike, I wish you could REALLY 'read' what they are trying to say to you. He was just running to a place where he knew he was loved, and wouldn't get 'a beaten' from someone when he doesn't know what its for. I really hope he comes back.. I don't want him somewhere like that... I hope you all can send out prayers and wishes that he comes back here.. so he is out of harms way... hopefully my parents will keep him..
Well, my dad found him near a highway yesterday morning at 6:30 AM. He brought him back to the house. Well the girls dad came over and talked to my mom. He's like "I could have sworn I petted him before I left the house at 8" My mom's like "No, my husband has to be to work before 6:30 AM... he brought him back while he was on his way". So the guy took him back. My mom said he had trouble getting Ike to go... Ike did NOT want to go with him... she said he had to come in the house, and try to drag him out, but she said Ike just had this look on his face like he wanted to bite him, or may start growling. So my mom's like, "okay maybe that's not sucha good idea, cause if he growls at you, my 3 are going to get upset." So, they finally got him in the car, but my mom said, he just cowers whenever he sees him or his "girlfriend" (one in story above). My mom and I are pretty sure that he gets beat (phsycollogical proof) but don't really have any proof.

I wanted to know.. can they get in trouble for their dog constantly running loose? I know he digs out of the fence, but I mean C'mon, they should watch him while outside. He just constantly gets out... he's not neutered and if we find him again, we're going to tell them if they neuter him, it may help with his wandering problem a bit. We're just so baffled out how Ike still manages to get out...

He's such a sweet dog.. he's so friendly, and he respects Sarge ALOT. Sarge is an old grouch, so if he comes near him, Sarge growls, so wherever Sarge is, he wont go in that room... My mom would try to call him, and he'd wag his tail and want to come over so bad, but he's afraid Bub won't let him LOL

You would think, if he just flat out had an escaping problem, he'd try to get out at my house... well, when he's here, he never leaves the front yard if off leash, he stays out back, and doesn't wanna leave when they come to pick him up.

Do any of you know if they can get in trouble for their dog constantly getting out?

Thanks anybody!

Oh, here's some pics! (Note: these pics are of him when he was about 8-9 months old -------he's probably 1 year by now)

He looooooves Denali

Typical male... just doesn't listen!!

This pic doesn't really show anything, but gives you a pretty good idea of how big he was at 8-9 months

. OH MY GOD!!!! Reading that just p***ed me off, made me mad and want to cry. If I were in your situtation I would do the following:

1st- contact the Non-emergency Police dept and/or your local Animal control to give you sugguestions or recommandations on how to take action and what steps you could take to help get IKE out of there. See if you can FILE A REPORT OR COMPLIANT!!!
2nd- If possible try-to set up a video camera and/or take pictures. Maybe, have one of your family members Video them or take pictures through a window, when they arrive to pick Ike up and maybe capture a pic or have it caught on type.
3rd- KEEP IKE!

OH, I gotta go.... Boss Coming... I"ll see what I can find out to help IKE! I'll Be back later!!!!

3rd- KEEP IKE!
2nd - that would be a good idea to take pictures... but the thing is that ever since my mom confronted them about beating the dog, they always act so nice about it. like "Oh, what a stinker, I can't believe he keeps comming over here!" or "I'm so sorry, I really appreciate it!"

3rd - if we ever find out that he IS getting beaten, or we actually see proof of them beating the dog... then we're gunna keep him.

That's a good idea about calling the AC to find out what can be done, cause my mom had said before, that she was going to call, and not give Ike back, but she gives him back each time. I think I may call myself to find out what can be done...

Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for your help Nichole!

If you just keep him, they'd probably want him back. But I'd be tempted to find him a new owner that lives far away that would be good to him. No wonder he doesn't want to stay there, the poor baby. I wish you could just keep him. Maybe they'll let you. That dog needs to get out of there. They should be reported. That just pisses me off!!!!

Thanks for the sites Nichole... I looked for stuff about reporting, but they didn't say much... I guess I'll just have to call and see what I can do.. I'll try to call tomorrow or Friday. I'll keep you guys updated as to what happens.

I just can't even believe they don't have a collar, tags, or chip for him. *sigh* I just hope he doesn't end up going to the wrong person, and they steal him... or gets hit by a car.

You need to turn them in. Tell the shelter what you know and see if he will goto the shelter and see if you can adopt him! He is so pretty. Deserves a better home than that. That makes me really mad.

Perhaps they would let you buy him. Offer what they paid for him if you can. I can't stand to think that they own a dog and then hit it or yell at him. Poor baby! Call the authorities and let them take the dog to the pound, then you can adopt him!
