What a vacation!

We went to Alabama last week to relax at our place down there and to get away from the rat race. We arrived on Sat night. Tuesday my hubby did something stupid and jumped off a ladder (about 5 feet). He's a 51 year old man and really should know better. He broke his leg in 5 places (bascially shattered it). He also tore the legements so his foot was hanging by the soft tissue. Wed. he had surgery and Sat. I got to drive 750 miles home with him, three dogs and a cat. What fun! Now he is in bed for 8 weeks! Wish me luck!

Oh my goodness!! I hope the leg heals normal and he stops jumping from high places. Keep your spirits high and take it a day at a time.

Today is day two with him at home in Virginia. He is doing pretty good. He is refusing to take anything for pain except Tylenol. Tomorrow he goes to the Orthropedic doctor here. That means I have to get him back downstairs and into the car! Luckily, we have neighbors who have offered to help out and give me breaks every now and then. John works from home so I will move his computer to the bedroom and he can still get work done (and it will keep him form getting too bored). That will wait until next week.
The dogs are being very well behaved! The poodle is doing her "poodle job"...laying in bed with him. The schnauzers are outside on gaurd duty!
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

ooooh OUCH!!! I hope he makes a speedy recovery! Make sure to take your breaks too! LOL!! I thought about what it would be like for my husband to be on bed rest for 8 weeks and I instantly got a headache.

We went to the doctor in Virginia today. The bad news...he says 10 weeks of bed rest (instead of 8). Then they will do outpatient surgery to remove one of the screws. He didn't say what to expect after that. He did say that the injury will cause arthritis. (Goodie) He is really being good. We had ordered new kitchen cabinets and they are going to be delivered Thursday. I was hoping to have a new kitchen before the holidays but we will have to store them in the garage until a later day. This weekend a neighbor is coming to help move his office equipment in the bedroom so he can do some work next week. That should help him form getting too bored. He can only stand so much Judge Judy!

Are we lucky or what?

Today hubby had to have emergency gallbladder surgery. That's right a broken leg and gallbladder surgery in less than 2 weeks! I guess on the good side, he can recover form both of them at the same time!
