Well yesterday there was another pitt bull attack here. A family dog attacked a 15month old baby, the baby is in critical condition and I will reply with more as soon as I know more.
Animal control went to get the dog today who was supposed to be in owners quaritine but when they got there it was lose roaming the neighborhood. When the animal control officer approached the dog it attacked the officer and a person who saw the attack ran to help and was also attacked by the dog. They showed the dog on the news...he looks scared huddeled in a corner shaking I feel so upset because I know what is going to happen to him now...I dunno the whole story as of yet but as soon as I can I will post more info. |

OMG. That is so sad. The baby may have been doing something. I dont know..but the dag had to have something wrong to be so aggresive. Maybe a rescue that had a bad past anyway..I hope the baby makes it and feel so sorry for the dog..

I agree Quincy. And sometimes their prey drive is all out of whack. And who knows what else happened to that dog in it's past or what kind of genetic make-up or temperament flaws it had. But it had something wrong, that's for sure. What a shame. And a shame you got attacked. It's amazing you're not afraid of dogs now. Of course, I got bitten badly just a few years ago. But as a child getting bitten, that can have lasting effects. It's unbelievable that these people didn't quarantine that dog after it made the first attack....amazing....roaming the neighborhood?

the more that i work with dogs (aside from my own) the more i become enlightened... I used to beleive that dogs needed "provoked" in order to become aggressive towards someone/something;
But we have this great dane in quarentine right now that if a small child stands in front of his run he goes aggressively nuts! (have you ever heard a dane bark while standing in a concrete room? whew! could be frightening if you didnt know the dog). he's fine and quiet when its adults (or we'll say people over 4' tall), but if a small child stands there, look out. Now maybe he was abused by some vicious toddler or something (?some level of sarcasm involved in that?), but this was just strange to me. I've never seen a dog want to lunge at a child before for doing nothing other than standing there. Literally. Sad, makes you wonder. |

I haven't heard anything much yet except that they may bring charges against the owners. I'm not sure but I believe the dog may have been chained and if that's the case which is what the case was last year when that pitt bull practically scalped the 3 yr old..he was chained all the time. If it comes to that then the parents will be in big trouble. I believe there will be something about it on our noon news..

I feel really bad for the child and for the dog. That dog had been abused or not socialized or something......just kinda makes you wonder how many good dogs there would be if people didn't ruin them....
