Rescue a dog=Save a life

An interesting day...
Well, about an hour ago my sister and I were walking Wesley in the woods in our town when Wesley spotted a raccoon! It was standing in a little stream but it didn't move (even though Wesley was barking/jumping/crying/pulling for it). We thought that it was hurt, so we fast walked Wesley home and went back down to get a better look at it. Its legs were stuck in the water and the poor raccoon couldn't move. We didn't get to close to it because it was looking pretty mad, but we went right home again and and called Animal Control. Well, little did we know that the animal control doesn't come to our town(which is crazy because we are in town and it is a county animal control, but I guess they only do the biggest cities) So, since the animal control wasn't going to help us, we called the local police department. They sent two police officers, one police car, and one huge police communty service vehicle to go and rescue the raccoon! We told them where they would find the raccoon and they assured us that they would rescue it
 And now the raccoon will live happily ever after! YAY!!!  I am SOOO happy that we could help rescue the raccoon! |

The area I live in is weird with animal control also. We have the SPCA who is in charge of the county, as well as the city animal control. Well even though the city is with in the county the SPCA has no control over it. The SPCA is only open 8-4 monday-saturday. Unfortunately most cases of needing help are Saturday night or Sunday. When it’s impossible to reach SPCA.
I live 50 yards from the city limits and the city animal control refuses to help because its SPCAs territory. |

Too bad you didn't get to see it get free, what a sight! An extremely ticked raccoon and two police oficers, it's the makings of quite the story! |

Too cool! What a lucky racoon!
The only thing I have to complain about the ACC here is that they take days or even weeks to respond to a report. We called about the people down the street not having vaccines for their dogs and they didn't come for almost two weeks. |
