Unique Holiday Traditions

I know that Lil Paws has already shared on of her family's traditions, with the youngest married women "getting" to do the dishes. LOL

Does anyone else do interesting things this time of the year?

Hmm....well I sort of have a tradition of watching the Thanksgiving dog shows...and I buy the girls Christmas presents. An hour or two after Christmas dinner we like to play a card game or watch a movie, or bring the girls on a snow-filled walk.

the day after thanxgiving my two best friends and our mom go to the christmas parade, then go back to their grandmas house and eat. ok so shes my grandma too.
Our fathers are always working so its kinda a girls day out, after we eat and drink lots of hot cocoa we go to this cool/cheap christmas store, then to dollar stores.

weve been doing this since I was 5, im now 20. the three of us are like sisters, and even though were all off in different parts of the state we always come back home for this.

Hmmm.....well, every year on Christmas Eve our church does a service at the Vetern's home and we always go to that and I play a peice on the paino (so does my lil bro) and JeanAnne (and maybe Mel this year, too) does a routine with her Baton. (She wants to be the next Golden Girl at Purdue ). And on Christmas morning, we all go down and 'unwrap' our stockings at 7:00. Then we go and unwrap gifts under the tree and make a HUGE mess with the wrapping paper . After that we go to our Grandma's house and have a family Christmas there.

The Christmas Pickle.

Every Christmas morning since before I was born we have the tradition of finding the Christmas Pickle. The Christmas pickle is a glass ornament that looks excatly like a real pickle. My Mom and Dad would hide the Pickle deep inside the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve after the kids had been sent to bed. In the morning they would wake us up to open presents and my brothers and sister and I would race to the tree and search for the Christmas Pickle. Who ever found it got a special present, got to be the one to give out all the presents, and didn't have to clean up any of the mess afterwards.

OMG!! LOL!! I love it!! I might have to start that here as a tradition.

We have breakfast (not me, I don't do breakfast...yuk), drink champagne out of our vintage Santa mugs, open prezzies and play with our stuff! I think I would like to start a Christmas Pickle tradition!

Christmas Tradition other than the one kjm mentioned that I have.
We have 4 ft. stockings my mother made some years back. We buy gifts to put in them. What ever we want to put in like nail kits, polish, socks ,jewelery, clothes, hunting items for the men.. We usually put a $ limit on what we spend on eachother. But, I don't think Moms is gona' fit this year. A China cabinet. ..LOL Gota' get my Lil'Mia a stocking..
