Sophy is permanent :D
Well I just had to let you all know that Sophy the baby tibetan spaniel is now officially a member of the mad green household.
Isabella is very sweet with her, a little jealous but not nasty. Sophy is soooooo tiny I am feeding her 5 meals a day lol trouble is Bella then comes around for her little tit bit and it is starting to show so I am having to get real sneaky. I tried giving Sophy some tuna ( human grade) but I think it must have been to strong for her as her stools were very loose after having it. I have never before given a dog fish, does anyone else here do that??? I am so worried at how skinny she seems to be but she sure is energetic. Maybe its just that I am used to plump Bella Anyway here is a picture of my little darling INTRODUCING BABY SOPHY GREEN ![]() |

Oh my goodness........she's precious!! Congratulations!!
As for fish, I'd just give her about 10 drops of fish oil a day in her food. Just buy the gel caps, puncture the end and squeeze 10 drops. Fish will make puppies have loose bowels anyway. |

She's gorgeous Linnie!
I give Jesse sardines occasionally. I only give him one from the can when I'm having some and now days he won't eat the whole thing but when he was younger he loved it and wanted more. His stools were just fine after that. I've given him tuna but he only likes it in very small amounts and goes off it very quickly. I think it's more the novelty of having something 'mum's' having that makes him want tuna. Cass. |

Tuna gives Missie an upset tummy if she gets too much (my family likes to let her drink the "juice"--water packed--and they divide a small can between 2-3 animals. It upsets her tummy if she gets anymore than 1/3 of the can or so).
Congrats on your new addition! I really don't know why you think she's so mischevious. ![]() |

Oh! Linnie, you must be so happy with your new girl. She is very precious indeed and I'm glad she gets along with the rest of the family.
As for feeding fish, well, I do give Shadow some canned wild salmon on occasion and will often put the juices on his kibble....I find it really adds luster to his coat. Maybe your little girl is just a wee bit young for the fish...especially if it gives her the runs. In any case , she is gorgeous and I do hope you will post lots of pictures so we can enjoy her growing up too. |

Oh she is just darling.
Novel gives her weims tuna, and they do fine. I give Jasmine fish oil pills like Calgal mentioned and she does fine on it. However I give it to her for her stiff joints and leg issues. If she didn't have these issues I wouldn't be giving her the oil. You might want to check with your vet about giving the oil to her her. We'd hate to do any damage to that cute puppy or give her somethign she doesn't really need. I think it is find that she is a bit skinny. Many people overfeed their puppies and then the extra weight is bad on their growing hips, joints, and bones. Be careful not to give her too much protien or calcuim in her diet either. Congrats on your new darling baby. She is just beautiful. |

Dogs and puppies all need Omega fatty acids. This is fish oil. It's to keep their skin and coat from being dry. Dry skin is itchy skin, and also makes the coat dull and shed in excess. Fish of all kinds are good for them, but most puppies, especially puppies that are going to be real small when grown, sometimes can't handle fish till they are grown, and sometimes not even then. All are different.
