Have fun with your job! Just wait until a pain in the you-know-what dog comes in.....lol Those are the best! *rolls eyes* I tell you, at least the owners could warn you that their dog hates strangers and is extreamly cage aggressive.....it would save a lot of issues.
We had some Iggies boarding where I work and the owner said that if one of the dogs wouldn't settle down to go to sleep, to read the dog a story. lol And if one of them wouldn't eat, he had to watch you prepare his food. Luckly, we never had either of the problems. lol

Is the day care you work at just a day care, or does it also board pets? Just curious.
Good luck with your new job! It sounds wonderful!

Poor Bully. Hopefully he was surrendered so you can find him a nice home!

I guess the bulldogs owners came and got him today, but they still want to get rid of him. They left a flyer there. They said the reason they cannot keep him is that "They are moving and cannot take him with". His name is Piglet. They are selling him for $2000 OBO (because they paid $2500 for him as a puppy. Sigh - I hope he finds a really nice home.

Ritz - it is also a boarding facility. Some dogs there stay over night so we have to put them in their seperate kennels at the end of the night. She said, right now it's slow, and there will probably be over 100 dogs next week. I'll have my work cut out for me!

Today, they had a boxer, a pitbull and 3 beautiful weimi's and a few others, but those few caught my eye! The male, though, looked very oversized. He was huge (about as tall as the bloodhounds there). The pitbull would try to get in my lap as I was cleaning the fence inside. She snapped and bared her teeth when the other dogs came near me, so I had to keep her off me while I was cleaning. The boxer was cute as ever... I was showered with boxer kisses as I cleaned. Won't have to shower tonight LOL (jk).

The lady that works there is going out of town and left her two bullies there. Esther (girl) and Buttdigger (boy) LOL I don't know how she came up with that name! They are both gorgeous! The male, though, doesn't have a very squished up face at all, more like a boxer muzzle. And she gave me strict instructions to spoil them while they're there.

The funny thing though is the rottie thats there. Her name is Lilly And she looks just like her too. She's a tad skinny for my liking (she's a puppy though, so still a lot of growing). I think it has a lot to do with her fur.. it's very long on her back, so it's twirling in all different directions on her hips (which make it look like her hips are showing).

Well, that was my second day I'm off tomorrow.

Thanks for reading

That poor Bulldog. Did you guys fine them for his boarding, I hope?!

Sounds like a fun second day, too. I'm working vicariously through you now, ok? Hey, when's our first paycheck?!

I'm sure they did. I higly doubt they just let them keep him there. They already have a policy that if your dog is boarded, and if you don't pick them up by 11AM on the pick up day, you're charged for a full day of daycare.

Tehe, I'll be sure to keep this up-to-date so you can feel my experience. HAHAHA

First paycheck.. haven't found that out yet. LOL I've just been enjoying my job so much that I haven't even though about it I'll let you know though Hahaha

Just caught up and read this post. I am so happy for you! Sounds like the perfect job for ya. (minus the pee and poop cleaning...nobody wants to do that) . I cannot believe the owners came and got their dog! If I was the daycare owner I would have refused them. Some people.

The place where I take my 2 has a HUGE play area, all covered, and they get broken up into groups(by size and temperament). That way they get the most out of play time, and the owner of the day care tries to keep the same ones together all the time , that way they make friends!

I envy you...what a great place to work!
Feeling sad for the poor bulldog , hope they can find him a good home right away...god knows if they are nice to him , seeing as they don't want him anymore. Ugh! disposable pets...just breaks my heart.

Thanks everyone

I actually have a bit of a soft spot for the rottie thats there (I know I know... one of you guys warned me I'd get attached to some of the regulars!). She's so very sweet. She looks at you though with that "Don't come near my kennel" look, but she immediately jumps up to your hands and just wants to be pet. She's such a sweet girl - I guess it's because she reminds me so much of Lilly. She poops in her kennel all the time though, even after we walk her. I think it has a lot to do with stress. One of the co-workers said her dad has been gone for a while somewhere, so she's been there for about a month now. I'm not sure why they don't let her with the other dogs - my guess is because she seems a bit timid for a rottie, so that's probably why. I'd love to spend more time with her though.

Tell me about it! LOL

It looks as if I got a pretty good bruise on my hand from yesterday. The girl working with me was trying to get one of the dogs out of the arena, while Dusty (the huge weim) was trying to get out. So I had ahold of him, trying to push him back (along with a couple other dogs) and my hand was smashed between the fence and Dusty as I was pushing back. I didn't notice at the moment, but after a while it started to hurt, and stopped. When I got home, I looked at my hand and realized I had a large bump between my knuckles and further down. It's swollen some. i can move it just fine, but if I touch it.. Gee-wiz-holy-cow LOL

Ah well.. it's all good

Congrats on the job! I bet you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the boarding place I worked at. I have had my share of injuries as well. An overly exited husky named Snark busted my lip. He was very exited to see his owners who had just arived and I was trying to get him across the fence and to them. He was jumping everywhere and headbutted me in the lip. I still love him though. hehe

Ouch! Sounds like that hurt! The co-worker that was there yesterday, sat on the floor in the middle of all of the dogs. IMO, I'd never do that, just for the fear of getting bit if a fight breaks out. Actually, a small scuffle went on when she was sitting there, so the boxer had to be put in a kennel for starting the fight. I'd rather be up, and my face away from the dogs if something like that happened, so I'm better prepared to break it up.

I would sit down amonst the dogs as well. several of the big ones like a big blue pitbull who thinks she is a lap dog would come and sit in my lap. I loved being down on their level. I see your concern though.

I had a pittie come sit across my lap when I crouched down to clean the fence. She got nasty though with the other dogs and would snap when they came near, so I had to keep her off me. Nearly everytime I crouch like that, atleast one of the dogs becomes possessive of my attention. LOL So, I'd rather be safe than sorry. If there's only a few dogs I don't mind, but when there's nearly 20 in the arena, that's a different story. LOL

Oh, and Dusty the weim felt it was necessary to sit on my back or lean on me while I was cleaning. LOL Guess I made a comfy seat.
