Holy cow, there were a bunch of dogs there today. And a HUGE mastiff. I have never seen a dog so huge. I am not joking.. this dog was literally the size of a cow. She was humongous. I have no clue what type of mastiff. She had longer furt, and had the very light blonde fur and black face. Her name was Casey - she was a very sweet girl.
And a GORGEOUS pitbull! His name was Jackson - black and white. His ears were natural but they stood half up and "gently" fell over more towards the top, soft and shiny coat, and very well built. Very nice example of the breed. He played nicely with the other dogs, even when some of them got snippy at him. He just got frisky and bounced off LOL Then - there was a dog being boarded there by the name of Rohrer (pronounce "Roar"). He was trained as an attack dog at a young age, but as he got older, he was never able to let go of that behavior, and its become his temperment. Not like the dogs you see today that respond to commands --- he just thinks he has to be that way all of the time. I don't know why they allow him to be this way. It's unfortunate, and quite a danger if you ask me. So only the managers are allowed to feed him, walk him, etc. I had a much busier day. Couple more bruises. But all was good. Also saw two huskies there One of them sounded like Sheiba (the way she talked) and they both would start to howl and then the other dogs would start - I laughed so hard. Well, that's pretty much the highlights of my day. It's 4 in the morning, and I don't know why I'm still typing LOL |

Sounds like fun!
We have some kittens boarding at Pawprints today. lol They are so cute!! Ashley and I just sat and played with them for about forty-five mins since we had some time to kill (there weren't a lot of dogs). One of the kittens was climbing on some boxes by a huge trashcan and then it decided to jump into the trash can. LOL We had a good laugh and rescued the poor kitten from a trash can full of dog hair. LOL ![]() I love working with animals. ![]() |

Wow - my internet was out for a while, and I was just so busy that I never got a chance to come online.
We've been SOO busy at work. We had about 90 dogs to look after for ThanksGiving. Once we had a system going, it wasn't too hard to handle. I've been good about remembering the names, unless I haven't had much interaction with that dog. I've learned to keep some treats in my back pocket, as there are difficult ones to get into cages/rooms. So I see if they like treats (unfortunately, some aren't food drive at all), and I toss it into the cage, and shut the door. Tehehe They turn around and look like "Heeyyyy, that wasn't nice" LOL Some BEAUTIFUL dogs have been coming in. A rottie named Nitro, Dog de Bordeaux (I believe she's mixed cause she's far to sleek to look full mastiff) name Jade, Debo the Bull Mastiff.. so many more. My favorite girl went home today Her name was Cleo and she was an older GSD (probably about 5 or 6 years). So sweet. My other favorite is Kodah, the black and white french bull dog He's so cute. Then there was Kiki , the "midget pitbull". LOL She had the regular size head of a pittie, but was short and had the crooked legs like a basset (she was full pittie though). She was so sweet and so cute! She will be going home tomorrow. I did baths all day yesterday. I like doing baths, cause the time goes by pretty quickly. My feet are killllinnnggg meee! It doesn't help, though, when I have a severe ingrown toe nail, and when I wear sneakers I can't walk right on my foot. So I end up leaning on the side of my foot (unknowingly) and it hurts. Ah well... I'm sure I'll get used to it soon. I'm still enjoying it though I will have worked an entire week straight this Tuesday. So I ended up getting sick. Nothing major, I had a sore throat earlier this week, but now I've got a head cold. Sniffles and sneezing, clogged ears. Thought I'd give an update, and let TAD know how our week has been! |

Sounds like our week has been BUSY! Teehee!
I enjoyed the update. Your descriptions give good mental pictures that make me feel like I was there! Hope your feet recover soon. That's one of the worst pains 'cause you have to keep using them!! |

I'm sure my feet will eventually get used to it.
Today was a MUCH slower day. Only maybe 15 dogs there. A lot of the boarders went home. I had to give the bullmastiff, Debo, a bath today. What a chore that was ![]() First, I couldn't get the lubricant in his eyes. He saw the little bottle, and once I tried to put it to his eye he was like "Um.. Nope! No way!" He kept jumping around and whipping his head, so I just left that alone. Next was the ear cleaner. Nope the minute he saw the bottle, he did the same thing, and this time he started whining, and his eyes got wide, so I left that alone too. THEN, when I started spraying him, he started biting at the water (it wasn't really a "I wanna play with the water" it was a "I must kill the water, cause I don't like it") so I kept my hand far enough away from his mouth so he wouldn't nip at the sprayer (where my hand was). I soaped him up, scrubbed, and as he had his head down, focusing on something else I non chalantly flipped his ear open, scratched his neck, and quickly squirted in some ear cleaner. So I told him goodboy, he shook his head, and I continued to scrub him. I did it again with the next ear, only this time he was hesitant of me doing it and immediately flipped his head, so I waited a little longer, and finally got it. I rinsed him off, and he enjoyed being toweled off. He kept trying to squeeze between my legs. Then I rub his ears - oh he loved that! I tried the high powered blow drier... that didn't work. The minute he saw me with the hose, he started barking at the hose ferociously and trying to attack it... so I left that alone. I just toweled him off REALLY well. Then I took him to a drier crate where he pulled the door partly inside the crate, but he couldn't get out. THAT was the most interesting bath. LOL You can obviously tell he isn't bathed/handled very well. I always make sure my dogs are okay with being touched anywhere on their body. *shrug* I guess to some people it's not that important (probably the kind that just have the dogs around to have). I'm sicker than a dog though. Thankfully, tomorrow is an "if they need me" day. I have to call and check. The manager said there will probably be even less dogs tomorrow so that's why. I hope there are, cause I could really use a rest. I called out already last week, and then missed half a day, so I don't want to push my limits, but I don't want to jeopardize my health either. Can't afford to get terribly sick since we have no insurance. So I'm going to go lay down. Very tired, even getting up today to walk to the phone of the bathroom was tiring. I was breathing as if I ran around the house. So, that was the day today. OH and I have a new favorite He's a red ACD named, Rico. He's SO smart, and very laid back, but loves to play catch with the broken kong. He'll chase it, bring it back, and he also likes to leap for it. Just picture the dogs that catch the frisbees.. leaping in the air, legs stuck out and twisting. He's such a cute little booger. |

Thanks
Actually, they have a live webcam that they invite the owners to watch if they want to check out how their dog is doing during the day. My boyfriend got me some chicken noodle soup (from Boston Market! Yum! ) and some cold/cough medicine. I shouldn't even be up right now... Hehehe, but I just wanted to get my last fix before I shut the computer off. If I get tomorrow off, I already have wednesday, so that should give me some well needed rest. |
