I strongly disagreed that breeders were part of the problem. Puppy mills, bybs, irresponsible breeders...Yes, they're part of the problem. But reputable breeders breed for the love of their breed and they only breed to enhance their lines and take the best of the * and sire to create a "better" generation.

The problem here is that unfortunately ANYONE can get a male and a female together, wait around a bit, and then call themselves a "*breeder*".
when the reality of the matter is that people that run puppy mills, bybs, etc. all refer to themselves as "*breeders*".

So, I say "lets let 'those people' have the golden term "*breeder*"" since they're so insistant on calling themselves such; lets give people like Crossfire (and the like) a much better and far superior name!

I agree. Reputable breeders are contributing to the population, but not in the way that BYB and mills are. Reputable breeders breed healthy dogs in healthy conditions, they love and care for the breed and just want to make it better. But BYB a mills breed for the money, because they know that idiots are just going to have to buy that "cute little puppy in the window". As you might know, Crossfire, I'm not the kind of person that would really go to a breeder for a dog.....I prefer rescue, though someday I might be interested in getting a Standard Poodle from a good breeder if I cann't find one in a rescue or shelter. I have nothing against you and your breeding; obviously you care a ton about your dogs and breed responsibly.

I like to rescue other than to buy from a breeder...I think rescuing dogs is just about the same as rescueing children...either its a puppy or a child they will both love you.

Right. But rescueing is helping a dog. Alot of people can buy. If the breeder is a good one they will not take there dog to a shleter..they will keep it or wait for someone to buy it! But the shelter normally will not. They give the dog a date.

Thank you very much I've never been able to understand how someone could just breed their dog for the sake of selling pup or how someone could look at a dog or any animal for that matter as nothing more than property. My dogs are part of my family as well as my heart and soul.
