MY Shamous saved a life!!!!!!
I live on a very rural, steep mountain road and my house sits up on an embankment of a VERY sharp double curve (almost 90 degree turns) across the road there is a gorge that drops around 40 feet to a creek.
around 1:30 in the morning Shamous jumped up out of bed and started barking furiously. I assumed it was a deer or perhaps our local bear was wandering around( which is a nighly barking treat for all of us ). I told Shamous to be quiet and lie down. He continued to bark with an almost panicked sound to it and grabbed my arm and pulled me off the bed. Once I was up, he ran to the window. When I looked out, to my horror, I could just barley make out the fact that there where red lights down in the gorge. I made it downstairs and out the door in seconds while my husband called 911. The car had missed the 1st turn (probably going to fast) and shot right off the edge. hitting trees on the way down and flipped over and landed in the creek at the bottom. They were unconscous. If Shamous hadn't been so persistant, the person could have very easily, drowned, bleed or frozen to death. ![]() |

It's so amazing that he was so persistant in trying to let you know that there was something wrong. I don't know how dogs know something isn't right, but it's just amazing, that's all I can say. Go Shamous!
