Lightbulb Low cost shots????? (Need Info for a friend)

I have a friend who is going to be getting a puppy (a Aussie/Collie mix) from another friend. Now, while I like Carla, I personally don't think she should be getting a dog...it is against her mom's wishes and she can't afford it. She has also never had a big, active, heavy shedding dog before. She has a Maltese mix, but that is it. I don't think she's had a puppy before either. But, she is getting one, so I thought I'd give her as much info as I could to help her out a bit.
When I was telling her she needed take the puppy to get shots, she was like, "Well, how much will it cost?" I told her around $200 just for the shots and fecal exam, not including the neuter, and she freaked out.
Sooooo.....does anyone know of any places in Lafayette, Indiana where their is low cost Spay/Neutering and low cost vaccines?

I haven't even told her about heart warm medicine or feal and tick control. I'm going to give her a book I have about raising a puppy....hopefully that will help her out some.

I wish I new of some places, but unfortunately I do not.
We take Wesley and Lilly to a vet in our area that is known for giving VERY affordable prices, lost cost shots and everything! You could check with all your local vets and see if any of them are a low cost vet. Also, our county offers low cost shots and free spay and neuter certificates for lower income families/people. The county gave us a certificate for both Wesley and Lilly and it covered everything, the actual surgery, pre-surgery visit, and the post-surgery visit, which was awesome! So, maybe yours might too? It would be worth looking into. And, our Petco also offers low cost shots like once a month I think it is....so, you could check into that too. I hope that helps! And I am sure a puppy care book will be really helpful to her as well!!

give your local humane society or shelter a call. they often are able to point people toward low-cost resources.

If this puppy is being brought in without parents say, most likely she will not need to vaccine, unfortunetly many cases like hers the dog goes straight to the pound, as unwanted.
But if it ends up being a happier ending than that, humane societies normally have a vet on staff. Contact the nearest one, to see if something might be arranged

She's getting the pup from another friend who will take the puppy back if things don't go as planned. She told Carla that if Carla needed to get rid of the pup, then it comes back to her.
I never even thought of the humane societies! Duh! Ya, I'll give one a buzz and see if they can do anything. Since I also work at a vet's office, I may be able to see if they are willing to work something out...maybe an IOU or monthly payments or something.
