What the heck?!?!
For the past year, my brother has been renting out my basement. To be honest, most of the time I've wished for him to get out on his own, and leave me in peace...LOL (the arrangement was only supposed to be temporary). He's made a lot of mistakes in life, and I keep hoping and hoping he'll grow up one day (he just turned 30).
Well, 2 weeks ago he got offered a job out in British Columbia. At first I was happy for him and glad he'd finally be out of here. He just left about half an hour ago, and I've been crying since. What the heck? I guess I'm just worried about him, and hoping this all works out. He left here with only 2 suitcases, and the bare minimal of funds to get by until that first pay cheque. Is it weird for his little sister to be so worried for him? I honestly thought I'd be over the moon when he finally left, as cold hearted as that sounds. But I'm kinda depressed right now. ![]() |

I don't think there is anything weird about the way you are feeling. It is obvious you love your brother and at times have felt exasperated by his failure to live up to all you know he is possible of. You are so hopeful this move for him is a good one and will help him become the man you know is in him. But on the other hand, you are nervous that if he needs your help or guidance it won't be as easy when there is distance involved. Alot of times with brothers you want to either hug them or smack them!
I know exactly how you are feeling because I have a brother who sounds alot like your brother. My brother is 48 and as much as I love him I could still shake the heck out of him! ![]() |

Your just worried about him and, even thru every miss-hap and "you can't wait for him to leave" feelings, miss him ! I have to say very normal ..

Your feelings are quite a bit like that of us moms who's kids either went off to college or out on their own. You can't wait till they are grown and gone, but then you never stop worring when they do. You will soon get over it, and about the time you do, they usually move back in.

I think you're all right!! I do want to either hug him or smack him, I will miss him, and I do have this feeling like he's a kid moving away from home...LOL. And although I have a slight nervous feeling things won't work out and he'll be back, I hope he proves me wrong!
