Angry at relatives
Ok my dog maggie has been passed around to several homes. First an old man had her, then gave her to my great uncle, the he gave her to my grandmother, then she gave her to my great aunt, then she peed on the floor one time and my great aunt gave her back to my grandmother, then she finally came to live with me. She is here permanantly and she is my baby and I love her. Well my great aunt was over for thanksgiving and notices how well housetrained she is and all the tricks she knows now and begs for me to give her up! I politely told her no and she was suprised!
Then my aunt sees Lucy and falls in love. She begs for me to give her up and starts crying when I say no. She then said "you have four why can't you give just one up?" I was like what if I asked you to give me snuggles (her pomeranian) she finally gave up but didn't even talk to me after that she didn't even say good bye and just sulked for the rest of the day. Lucy has also been passed around and she is only a puppy. Her first owners had an accidental litter and dumped them at a high kill shelter and a friend adopted her, then had to move to an apartment so I adopted her. Dogs that I get stay with me permanantly. I'm sorry but I would never ask someone to give up their beloved pet. Sorry for the vent. |

Wow what a childish way to act for your aunt!
I'm really surprised she'd ask you to give up one of your pets. If she can't cope with the dog peeing once, I'm sure there are other things a dog would do that would make her want to give it up even more. |

Thats a shame she acted that way, but she needs to realize that you are a responsible dog owner and Im sure you worked hard to get your fur kids to the point they are at. Who is she to think she can come in and just easily take one.

The dog has been bounced around long enough. She needs to think a little more about the dog and a little less about herself. I also agree the other 2 points: (1) she would probably find something else that would bother her about the dog and (2) housebreaking is a lot of work and the person who puts in the effort deserves to reap the benefits.

I can't understand how someone could ask a person to give up a pet like that.
Makes no sense.I wouldn't have given them up either. I agree that your aunt was being childish. Your dogs have a great home with you, they've no need to live anywhere else. ![]() Cass. |

The first aunt is my great aunt, the second is a different person and she is in her thirties. I can't believe how childish she was.

I occasionally joke about, "I'll just take your dog home with me, she is so precious!", but I would never ask someone to give up their beloved pet.
Don't you just hate that about people? They kick a pup out when it misbehaves once, yet they don't want to do any training. Then when they see your well behaved dog, they say, "My, I want a dog like that!" They just don't want it with any effort. |

I can not believe how she thinks moving her around from home to home will not affect her. Your aunt is not in her right mind, no offense

Glad you are the mature one of the bunch! Lets have someone else to all the work, and have then ask for the dog back.....yeah right!
Family or not, I'd have told em where to "shove it". |

Your aunt sounds like a very self centered person, and not one that should have a pet at all. How did she manage to hang on to snuggles?
You did the right thing by being the wise adult who cares deeply for the dogs. They have blossomed under your wonderful care and for the first time in their lives, they feel they have a home and family. |

The first and second aunts are completly different people one wanted maggie and one wanted lucy. My aunt is a very self centered person. She does love her dog deeply and wants another dog. I don't know why on earth she wants mine so badly. I just can't believe she started crying and got angry at me she is a 38 year old woman and acts like a 10 year old. At least the aunt that wanted maggie back gave up after asking just once.
