humph! (warning: LONG!)
I think I have learned a lesson to not to try "rescue"dogs online ever again. I think i'll just stick with the local rescues around here. I Came close in rescuing another dog that is close to Casey's age and i knew those two would make a perfect combo. Well this person i only know through the internet, we have talked here and there through emails & are on the same dog forum. This person couldn't keep her dog, and she saw my post about wanting to rescuing another dog and offered if i wanted to take her dog because she couldn't keep him
. So i said i would take him, we planned on the meetings and she set a price on her dog. She was willing to hold it for me until April or May until I move and I will go up and get the dog. WELL now she changes her mind and want to give the dog to this other person because someone's husband heard this dog was leaving and now they want it ( they know eachother and have met in person off line). I can understand if there are people that are concerned about what kind of homes they're going to especially if you've never met the person. But what more could you ask for? this dog would have been living on a farm property with LOTS of room to run around in, i don't think very many dogs have that kind of lifestyle where they can just run free on acres of Land with no worries ( under my supervision of course!). If she was worried about what kind of living condition he would be in we could have made an arrangement where she could see the property. I know most rescues would love the idea that a dog has so much room to run and play ( although she's not a rescue, she's just another person that wants to give up her dog). Don't offer a dog to someone and have plans all set then pull back and have someone else take him. In the long run, my husband thinks that maybe it was for the best and it wouldn't be fair for the dog to wait on me until spring and we can't save every homeless dog out there. But still, i kind of got attached after seeing pictures & such i guess it's only fair that he ends up in a good home soon rather than later otherwise he'd probably end up in a shelter...... Although there is a minnesota rescue here that i've been hearing about so i will be contacting them sometime soon.....That's just my rant for the day ![]() |

I'm so sorry
Know that the right dog will come along, and sometimes you have to pursue a couple dead ends before the right one hits you. All my best wishes finding the perfect dog for you! ![]() |

The same thing happend to me only instead of a dog, it was with two ferrets. We had a date set to meet and everything...then she just didn't reply back. *shrugs* But, since that fell through, I now own Dameon and I'm so glad I have him!
As everyone has said, you have to pursue some dead ends before your perfect furbaby comes along. Good luck in your search. |
