A sparrow

Well this evening, I was out bbqing dinner in the dark. My folks were here. I saw this sparrow roosting over a doorway to the house.. and I mention it to mom. We feed and water sparrows here, so they are everywhere. Literally. LOL. Many birdhouses, they raise the babies in the summer and sleep in the boxes in the winter, and under various overhangs around the house. Anyhow, she pokes her head out and says "oooohhhhh he looks like he's breathing heavy, he doesn't look good, go get him and bring him in so he'll be warm". I didn't realize she was yanking my chain. Normally if I come across a sick sparrow, I leave it be or put it in a safe spot in the yard so it can quietly pass away in peace. But it is COLD out there and I felt bad for him. She didn't think I'd do it.. But I did. I'm gullible. I snuck up and plucked him off his little perch. He gave a loud Squeek and I realized that this bird is FINE. Fiesty and royally ticked off at me. Walked in the house and mom's jaw dropped. LOL. She should have told me she was joking. Anyhow, it was dark, I didn't want to turn loose a frightened disoriented sparrow in the darkness, so he's in a little critter carrier in the bathroom. He wil be turned loose FIRST THING in the morning, bright and early. Poor guy. But hey, at least he's warm. It's bitter outside.

Awe,thats so sweet though. I love wild birds, so oI try to always help too. I raised some sparrows once when a bird nest fell...it was hard but fun. After that I gave them to the Wild Animal Officer, or what ever you call them..

I turned him loose first thing this morning. He flew to a branch in a tree and boy did he CHATTER. LOL Then he stomped around on the bird feeder, and flew off. So all is well, he had a warm night. Though he probably thought he was gonna be food for something. lol
