Glowing eyes!
Has anyone ever wondered why the glow in a dogs eyes can be red, pink, green, yellow and so forth? My Zada's glow bright green and Azrael's glow pink. I'm wondering why the difference. Does anyone her know?

I have always wondered that as well. Here are all four of mine with their normal glow color.
![]() Oh and another strange thing lucy's eyes glowed green when she was younger and now they grow reddish. Here she is at the age of 18 weeks. ![]() |

Yeah, it's really strange huh? LOL PJ and Tysa rarely have glowing eyes inside or in daytime pics, but outside at night, Tysa always has one red, one blue, and PJ always has one yellow, one orange(ish)..haha. Always the same eyes too! Creepy!

Hmm... Looks like Mazie's glow two different colors, too.. I'm colorblind, though, so it's difficult for me to tell..

It's normal for the light to reflect off the dogs lens, but what I'm wondering about is why are there so many colors, and is any of these colors good or bad. Does it mean that certain colors show there may be some problem. I find it very strange that most dogs have brown eyes, but they glow different colors.
Beryl, thank you. It's just their home made jamies, and not very glamorous ones either, but they wont go under the covers to keep warm so I have to put things like this on them or they push themselves into me and shiver. We don't have the heat on at night. |

It's a layer of reflective tissue called 'Tapetum lucidum' which takes advantage of even the slightest amount of light to allow our beloved dogs (and cats) to see in the dark.
The different colours we see relate to the different pigments in the eye. According to what I've read about it anyway. ![]() Cass. |

Interesting. I always assumed it was just from the flash, never realizing or paying attention that sometimes they are different colors.
I do however like the "Demon theory" I of course assumed that the green glow in Shamous' eyes was just from the green goo he has for a brain showing through ![]() |

The breeder I got the Zada and Azrael from said she loves to see the green eye shine, but when I questioned her about the "pink-eye" shine she did not answer.
BB, lets hope there is no Jekel and Hyde in your babies , but am really fasinated in why your babies have a different color in each eye! I bet even the medical books don't even elaborate on those colors, but my curiosity is really getting the best of me, so I see I need to be on a quest to solve this. |

I just told you why there are different colours.
Doesn't anyone read my posts anymore? Cass. |
