What's your story?

Ok, it's closing in on the holiday season, and I'm a sucker for heartwarming stories involving loved ones. I remembered this today, and thought I'd share. I'd love to hear stories from others too!

When I was 5 years old, my grandfater moved to Saudi Arabia for like 6 months. I honestly don't recall why, but I think it was for the army. I lived in England then. Christmas was rolling around, and I missed my Grandad. So while at my nan's house the weekend before Christmas, I coloured a picture of Slimer (from Ghostbusters, he was my fav...LOL). I wrote a short messege, saying "I miss you grandad, and hope you come home soon......Love Karen....XXX". I folded it in half, closed it with a piece of tape, and wrote on the outside of the paper......"Grandad Morgan......Saudi Arabu". I told my nan I was just going in the yard to play, and I would be back in a minute. The mailbox was just outside the house, so I ran quickly over to it, and dropped the "letter" in.

About a month later, the phone rang at home, and it was my nan. She told my mum that grandad had just called from Saudi Arabia, and that he had recieved a picture that Karen had sent him. He was so happy he was crying on the phone, and said that it had really really made his day. He was amazed that a simple little picture, with the name and address being "Grandad Morgan.....Saudi Arabu" even got to him........not even a stamp on it!

When I think back, it amazes me as well. I don't know how he got it, or why the postal service would even attempt to get it there (maybe in the spirit of the season, and knowing a little kid wrote it), but I'm sure glad it did. To this day he still has my picture, framed, and in the living room on the entertainment center.

Could be the mail carrier knew your mom and got the rest of the information from her without your knowing and put it in an envelope.
I'm glad you have that wonderful memory. It makes for a brilliant sparkle in one of many facets to build on.

I honestly don't know Calgal, as far as I know, I did sneak it off without anyone even knowing I had posted it. And I was at my Nan's house when I did it (my brother and I stayed there every weekend our entire childhood). Like I said my Grandad still has it, and nothing was added on the address. I know it sounds completely outrageous.......I still find it hard to believe even now.

What a sweet story Karen. Amazing how things happen.

Mines kinda sad but here goes. When I was in college, 2 of my best friends went to England. They were supposed to come home just prior to the holidays. Instead they decided to go to Germany and then to Scotland. They were on Pan Am Flight 103 that blew up over Lockerbie, Scotland. The day after christmas I recieved a package from them, It was a pendant with a card that said. "We miss you, , we bought the same necklaces, so we could all wear them whenever we are apart."

I actually have a strange story, kinda off the wall, but it tells me that the messages we need to get out or recieve do in fact reach whom they need to reach.

Background Info: 3 years ago, (I was 18) my 16 yo god-sister died of a drug over-dose. Completely shocked our entire families, and hit my god-parents hard, as she was their only child. I went to their house that day, and felt Katie's presence in the house. Something told me that I would not be done communicating between Katie and her parents.

Now up to date: I went on a vacation in June, to Ocean City for the 3rd time in my entire life (I was very sheltered growing up, I did't get out much). I was with my boyfriend and friends, and I was having the time of my life, 21 at the beach, partying with friends. One night, something told me to go to bed early. So I got up from the couch, told everyone good night, and headed to bed. I laid down, and fell fast asleep. I had the WEIRDEST dream. I dreamt that I was talking to Katie, I was the same age and everything, even she had aged some. I dreamt that I found her hiding in some home far away, like a prison or something, but in an actual house, maybe for like witness protection or something. I talked to her for a good 2 hours, finding out what happened when she died, and that she was sorry and that she loved us, and I couldn't understand why this was happening to me in Ocean City, and not closer to home. Katie searched me out to tell me something, and it didn't click until I said something to my god-mother. My God-mother and I aren't really close, but she's like a second mother. We started talking about the guy who gave Katie the drugs, and what happened with him. Annie said something to me, and I had to have her repeat it. "Katie wants to tell me something, but I am not sure". It all came flooding back to me, like a horrible night mare, as images of Katie and I talking filled my head. I told Annie details that only Katie would know about her death, and Annie looked at me like I was completely losing it. I looked at her and told her what Katie said about being sorry, and wishing she had gotten help sooner that night, instead of hiding. Annie knew, I had talked to Katie, and Katie intentionally tracked me down, because she knew I would be open to her spirit. I'm not like one of those voo-doo people, but I do believe in the spirits, and that they have the ability to contact us. I do believe that things happen for a reason, and spirits have a bigger reason of contacting us. I wasn't at the time sure why Katie contacted me, but it finally made sense. And I'm glad she did, as I helped her mom in a way no one else could.

Messages reach people when they are important or when they are really needed. Just like that drawing reaching your Grandpa, it was important for him to get it, and he did.

Karen, that is really lovely, such a heart-felt story. I wish I had something as nice to share, but unfortunately I don't.

That honestly gave me chills... What a really sad thing to have happen to two of your friends.

Wow, me too. So sorry. I remember when that happened too (and I was only about 8), how aweful.
