New [Whatever] So Dump Dog

A radio talk show host was trying to find a good home for a dog, Buddy, who belongs to one of his friends.

Apparently his friends have a new baby and Buddy is not getting attention as in the past. Buddy gets along fine with the baby but they rather put him outside. To keep himself occupied, Buddy is digging out. Instead of allocating "Buddy Time", fixing the fence and/or building a confinement for Buddy, they are trying to find a new home for Buddy.

It makes me mad when people get a dog to keep them company or fill a void in their lives and then dump the dog when their life changes.

Get a new boyfriend who doesn't like dogs so dump the dog.
Get a baby who takes up too much of your time so dump the dog.
Get a job that takes up too much of your time so dump the dog.
Get a new house that you don't want messed up so dump the dog.

I'm glad when dogs are happily rescued but it bothers me when it has to happen in the first place. It gives me comfort to believe Cesar Milan when he says that dogs live in the "here and now" so hopefully, they won't grieve too much once they are in a loving home.

OTOH, I'm glad when people recognize that they won't give a dog the loving attention it needs and give it up so it doesn't suffer from neglect.

One of my friend's friend euthanized her cat because her new boyfriend didn't like the cat. She never even married the guy but killed her cat!

Some people should not be allowed to have a pet.

I totally don't get that. but it's sooo common.
My dog is what keeps me sane when the rest of the world (child & husband included) are driving me crazy. I could never survive being a stay-at-home mom without my dogs.

LOTS of people shouldn't have pets, Beryl. I've seen some pretty cruel results from these kinds of people and I believe anyone that beats, shoots or harms them to the point of disabling them in some way, should be cut and quartered or allowed to spend some time on the rack (16th Century style). This poor little thing was shot several times and had part of her jaw blown away to the point the lady who rescued her had to feed her Chicken Noodle soup before getting her an operation to fix the jaw that was broken. Unfortunately, the time lapse was too great from her shelter to the rescue and the jaw had set somewhat. She was hit in the chest as well. I don't know how she survived...and they call this a misdemeanor?

.

that happend to one of my dogs misty was born outside and she was a shelti germanshepherd mix

we had to give her up due to the fact that she was over protective of a certain part of the house so we had to find a new home for her (the vet said it was distemper and she should live ina one person house)

the woman who adopted her had a boyfriend and he didn't like the dog because he wanted a fighting dog and misty wasn't meant to be a fighting dog so one day he decided to put her to sleep

i will never forgive that man or that woman because she let him put her to sleep

They do not sound like they are dog lovers at all. In fact I do not think they care about dogs very much. The part about having a cat euthanized because the boyfriend did not like is terrible. If I had girlfriend and she wanted me get rid of my dog I would dump my girlfriend.

I think that there will always be people like this. Sadly though

I will never understand some people. I really wish people would put a lot more thought into buying an animal before they actually do it.

Many say I'm crazy because if it came down to a choice between my BF and my dog - River would win paws down everytime. The way I look at it is people are able to go out and make their lives whatever way they wish - dogs lives on the other hand are only what people are prepared to make them.

I can't really comment much, apart from aarrgghhhh! Makes me want to rip my hair out. So frustrated when people are so stupid and selfish. I guess they've never heard the phrase "a dog is for life".

Oohhh a man I could kiss lol
Although I could find a few extra tortures for these sub humans

As for the person wanting a new home for his dog because of a baby. The only thing positive I can think is that the dog might find a worthy owner because these people sure arnt qualified to own a pet.

I have sitting by my side at the moment a long hair chi Bazza who was going to be euthenised because the owner was moving somewhere she couldnt have him
Personally I would live in a tent if I had too rather than part with my girls ( dogs)

Ugh. That ticks me off. Even if I found the "man of my dreams" and he didn't like my dogs....good bye, "man of my dreams". If you don't like my dogs, then you aren't worth it!
My older cousin got rid of her dog because it wasn't getting along with her baby. It wouldn't tolorate any crap from the kid. In that case, getting rid of the dog was the smart thing to do because the baby was in danger.

Yes, Ritz. ITA w/everything you wrote. I'm not attracted to men who don't like animals.

Also, I think your cousin did the right thing. Either they rehabilitate the dog so that the dog sees the baby as "pack leader" or rehome the dog. I'd rather do the latter because a mistake can be fatal.

Lets face it we live in a throw away society, new products come out so fast and the old are discarded or set aside before the wrapping is barely off. Why should an animal be any different in the face of this attitude? Sadly we as concerned pet owners may gradually become an endangered species. All we can do is continue to pick up the pieces of those small shattered lives and glue them back together as best we can. As a foster home for border collies I will strive to educate my family ( my children have learned the lesson well), friends and aquaintences in the responsibilities of taking a pet into your life

My neighbor used to be the dog warden for our town, so all of her dogs have come frm very extreme cases. One of her dogs has deformed legs from being kept under the kithchen sink as a puppy.." he was too hard to train and misbehaved"

Her other dog a Chi mix, she went on a call to this mans house, because of complaints from another neighbor.. I believe what she told me was " the man said to me." Would you like to see how far I can kick her?" The chi had a broken Jaw as well.

I don't understand people. What is wrong with their moral fiber? How are you brought up to have so little regard for an animal? It infuriates me so unbelievable bad.

Every single one of her animals are abuse cases. 3 dogs, 2 horses, 4 cats, and 17 exotic birds.

I've always made a mental note to never get involved with any kind of abuse cases. I'd end up in jail and the abusers will still be out there doing their dirt.

It is not like that person has to have an animal so why even bring one home in the first place? I think abusers see people living happily with their pets and want the same thing for themselves. They don't realize that the happiness dog owners have is a result of some sacrifice (furniture, clean carpets, sleep during the puppy stage, etc.)

It is better to dump the dog once you learn that you are not a true dog lover.

This so not right to get rid of your dog for reasons like that.
