Hello,

As a group of dog-lovers located in various countires, viewing photos of your effort to lower the ammount of stray dogs caught our attention. While we understand that the problem must be solved, we feel that it can be solved in a more humane and efficient way than beating a dog to death with a pole. Spaying and neutering the dogs and then returning them to the streets is an option, this is not only humane but efficient. Animal shelters are another option. Stray animals would be taken to the shelter to receive veterinarian care, shelter and food, and find loving homes. Any animals that, sadly, do not find homes would be euthanized.

[NOTE: If anyone wants to add, please do!]

I agree that sending an email is a good idea. I'll have to think of something and write it up GLD

There is a big contraversy about Phillipinos and Koreans selling dog meat on the market. There's a website about it, and I joined the email list. That's how I got the article... Like I said, I didn't want to offend anyone!

No offense taken at all! I realize the horror that my country employs upon the animals, and I'm thoroughly ashamed. My own mother has tasted dog and cat meat and it's considered a delicacy. I'm sorry, but we have the most enviornmentally destructive delicacies out there (shark fin soup, dog/cat meat, civet cat, snake, antlers, bear tongues...the list goes ooon and ooon

).

You guys, I hate to be a pessimist, but many Chinese people would rather beat an animal to death and face their guilt than place them in shelters and give them care. For one thing, few Chinese people make enough money to feed themselves. My mother was the poorest of the poor farmers in rural China and she was your typical farmer. She helped raise the children, spent hours in the hot sun raking at the infertile land, bartered for food, stole food when times were bad, helped patch up clothing, all the peasant stuff. And this was only a few decades ago. A few of her relatives still live in these conditions, except with a few 21st century items (phone and television and running water) and possibly better circumstances. If you've ever walked down a typical Chinese street, the first thing you notice is the vulgar smell. (Hygiene ain't too important.) You all have wonderful ideas and I support them 101%, but I doubt it will work with the Chinese government.

Ericka's on the right track, though. You have to hit the government with a large organization whose rulings can decide between 'life or death' for tourism. I wonder if PeTA can go international with this...

I'm going to distribute the link to some of my other forum friends. They will send letters too. If they are going to kill them. there are much better and less painful ways of doing it.

A person an another forum suggested to write letters to the Olympics committee and say your going to boycott the olympics for 08. They pride themselves on being in the Olympics..So that might get there attentions more than just sending emails to whomever we can.

OMG!!!! I just saw this thread and That just makes me sick

I can't BELEIVE they are doing that.......

(And P.S. if they are so intent on killing thousands of helpless animals, the least they could do is put them down, and not MURDER them for God's sake!

and if I ever go to China, I'll never eat meat because it just might be dog! UGH.....)
