China Prepares for 2008 Olympics While agree for the fear of rabies, I don't think they should address the problem the way they are doing... I got this article through an email from It's Their Destiny |

That is really cruel and makes me mad.
Why don't we try sending them a long email? All of us, together. Something long, but starting something like.... Hello, After viewing photos of your effort to lower the ammount of stray dogs caught our attention. While we understand that the problem must be solved, we feel that it can be solved in a more humane way. |

Hello,
Viewing photos of your effort to lower the ammount of stray dogs caught our attention. While we understand that the problem must be solved, we feel that it can be solved in a more humane way than beating a dog to death with a pole. Spaying and neutering the dogs and then returning them to the streets is an option, this is not only humane but efficient. |

Ugh, sometimes I hate being Chinese...
Unfortunately, (I hate to stereotype, but....) many Chinese people are not animal-saavy. They view them as chores, and they've never really been taught respect for animals. About the only animal they *do* pay attention to is the Pekingese and that is only because of (hmm, I'm bad at translation so forgive me if I use the wrong English letters) Tzu Hsi. I think that's her English translation. Anywho, Tzu Hsi lived a long time ago and her passion for Pekingeses is not forgotten among the public, but the government and our traditions have basically brought us up ignorant to animals and their feelings. My family and relatives consider me crazy for being so in love with my animals, and they despise my home because "it's too noisy and dirty". *sigh* Even in America, they're still like this. One of my Chinese friends is very very traditional and she "accidentally" starved and froze her (chicken) chicks to death. She felt no remorse. Most Chinese people see no point in keeping animals as pets, and it's mostly because of the strict government and old traditions. To change their views would be to change the government and the government rules the country with an iron fist. To challenge the government is to commit suicide, really. Lose/Lose situation. It's a shame and I hate the situation going on over there. I'm not sure how I can battle them because I still have relatives over in China and I'd probably be putting them at risk. I'd love to help, but I need to maintain anonymity. Good Luck fighting the war for animal rights My prayers go out to the dogs at the Rainbow Bridge, and I hope/wish/pray that the situation will change. If there's anything else I can do without giving out my name, I'd be happy to help. Update us. |

GG, I was thinking that if we sent them an email explaining we think it should be done in a more humane way, it would be signed "From the concerned members of GP" or something like that. I was trying to create another email address too, for free because I don't want to have my regularly-used address known by people I have never talked to etc.. I was trying to get an email address from respectanimals.com, but they basically have problems leading you to the "create an address page"....
