Tell your loved ones what you think of them
Today was the district DECA competition for my marketing organazation at school...after the day's competitions, we all massed into the ballroom of the hotel for the awards ceremony. Divided up into groups based on school, I sat at the end of my row, with a school rival seating across the isle from me.
The awards ceremony had just started when a young man across the isle collapsed...my first thought was that he has passed out from being nervous, but when they began to pump his chest, I knew it his life was at stake. 911 was called on at least 3 dozen cell phones, and within 5 minutes, paramedics were on scene. They began to shock the kid to start his heart when we were taken out of the room. At this time, I do not know his current condition, but from what I have heard, we was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital. He was 17 or 18 years old, and his heart just stopped. We all had to watch him die, just a few hours earlier, he was in a competition just like the rest of us. I hope there is an afterlife, but I'm not going to say that he is one place or another...but I hope that he has found peace. Talking with a friend of the boy, I learned that his parents were out of state on vacation...so now his parents will be forced to come home to a dead son... Tell your loved ones you love them, cliche...maybe, truth always. Do it now...walk away from your computer, give your family a hug, call your mom...your son, your brother. Do it...life is too short to not consider this as reality. |

That is such a sad thing to hear and I am sorry you and your schoolmates had to witness such a scene. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
As stated in my signature Enjoy life, because it only takes a minute or less to change it! (maybe changing this soon) |

How very sad and how terrible for his family as well as everyone that was there to witness it.
![]() Life is WAY too short and too often so easy to take for granted, we can never tell those we care about enough how much we love them and how thankful we are that their with us. |
