My grandson and I in the kitchen today.
I always make my pies the day before Christmas, and my grandson (who will be 7 in March) loves to roll out the excess pie crust and cut different shapes, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon & bake. (he also flutes the edges of the pies for me) Today he made Noah's ark with all the animal shapes. I made a large apple pie (then for the last 5 minutes of baking I poured warm carmel over it and covered the top with pecans) a pumpkin pie and two colida cakes that will have a hot sauce made with JD over it tomorrow. It's sooooo sinfully good!
![]() ![]() And of course Seamus, waiting for a crumb to make it's way to his mouth (but it never does) but his daddy doesn't like when he bums as you can see. Seamus LOVES coming to grandmas because I give him tasty goodies. ![]() ![]() |

Yummm! Pumpkin pie and apple pie... so good! Homemade is always the best!
Hehe - Seamus looks like he's giving daddy those puppy eyes! "What Daddy? I'm not begging. I'm sitting here because I love foo... I mean, You " |

Calgal, your grandson is so cute!!
All your pies look really yummy. We had our Christmas early this year and decided to have Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. Yesterday morning I made a really yummy apple and pecan cake with cinnamon. It sure looks like you were all in for a treat with all that you baked! ![]() |

calgal..such a handsome grandson! I used to love to roll out the excess crust as a kid and sprinkle cinamon and sugar on it. mmm. I made a pie the other day and my husband had never done that, so i made him some. he thougth the cinnamon and sugar on the pie crust was yucky. Must be you have to be 7 to learn the joys of excess pie crust.

It's kind of become a tradition in my family. My grandmother did this to me (and her own boys, which by the way, she also had 6 sons) and I've always done this with my 6 boys and now my grandson, and I'm sure on to my granddaughter in another couple years.

My house is an open house. Anyone not having someone to share Christmas with......just come here. Linnie, come on up.
I always cook enough food to feed an entire neighborhood anyway. ![]() |
