Need Help

Well being the dog lover I am , I have taken in a stray. I have reported her missing and I have listed a ad in the paper incase her owners are looking for her. Here is the BIG problem. I think she is pregnant. Her belly is some what swollen and milk comes from her teets if sqeezed. I really want to help , but I can't take in a liter , I can barely take her in , as she is very stingy and agitated around Noodles. I was going to keep her until I found her a home , but now that I think she is pregnant , I think it would be better to get her in a home w/ someone w/ some veternary experience. I need to get her x-rayed and also just a general check-up , which bc of it being Christmas I cannot afford. I have sent some emails to local shelter looking for help but it doesn't look like any of them will be able to help me. One shelter even suggested aborting the pregnancy bc mixes are hard to place . I didn't like that suggestion one bit. Can anyone give me some advice / inform me of local shelters that can help me out in this situation.

Have you checked you local shelters? Where are you located adn I will try to help. Yes it does indeed, look like she is pregant. She is a cutie though. I wouldnt abort the pups either.

I know the owner of one no-kill shelter , she is the one who suggested getting the pups aborted....
I have sent emails to the Humane Society and 2 other shelters I can't think of the names of..
Tommorrow I intend to call the SPCA
I am having a crisis. some ppl I know are telling me to get the puppies aborted as soon as possible as she is lactating and that means it won't be long until the birth. Others tell me I shouldn't do that but don't have any advice but put her in a shelter.. and I already know that Memphis puts down over 14k a year... I am really FRUSTRATED

Well. I really hope you decide not to abort them. Its so sad, and frustrating. But i'm about to look at shelters. I wish I could take her. But I have 4 dogs and I am about to adopt another. And puppies..woo.
(Have you tried the Memphis Shelby County Humane Society? It says it accepts unwanted animals.

That's the first place I email , but they are not a no-kill shelter and will probablly put her and her pups down if they cannot find them homes

Man, I wish I was closer so I could help.......The dog (have you named her yet?

) looked like Brownie (my first dog that was also a stray) only Brownie was a different color (more brown) and had a docked tail and was maybe a little bit bigger.
Do you know anybody who could take her in? If no shelters will take her, maybe you could find a family to take her in.
Anyways, I wish you the best of luck!

Updates.....
I got her into the *BEST* shelter in Memphis.. The technicans there said it looks as if she was having a false pregnancy. Won't know for sure until tommorrow. I hope it is. Will be a BIG load of my chest. I intend to keep intouch w/ them to make sure she gets a good home.
