Maybe it was a "designer dog" and she finally realised that all a DD is...is a mutt with a high price tag? And she's a stuck up snob who doesn't like mutts? *shrugs*

Whenever I talk to people about Shibas, *especially* if they are looking at a puppy, I always try to get into a discussion about what they think about the adult dog - it is truly scary how many people almost seem to "forget" that at some point, if they do choose to get a puppy, what they WILL end up having is an adult dog. It's so strange how people are seemingly unprepared to realize that they don't stay puppies forever - and then proceed to act as if this was a giant inconvenience for them; as if it was some unforseen occurrence that they cannot possibly have anticipated or prepared for. HAH - trust me people, the inconvenience is a LOT bigger for the poor dog you end up dumping. |

If the dog is just a MUTT and she did not know that at the time, than I think she is not good enough for the dog and personally I think the dog is better off without her. The dog is a mutt but whats her excuse?

"Nothing is ever easy"
|
Here is a real life story for you:
Today in at work while I was back working in the kennels, a receptionist came back and said, "I'm staying back here with your for a minute because there is a freaken b*tchy lady up there right now and I can't take it." I asked what her deal was and she said, "She just adopted a dog yesterday and brought it in to be put down. She says that it is 'starting to act aggressive' (it didn't like to be held) and she doesn't want it anymore. We told her why not just take it back to to rescue and she said, 'No, why would I do that?'" I saw the dog and it was a little Beagle/Dachshund mix. The vets took it back and evaluated it and it was just back there with the biggest smile on its face wagging its tail at everyone. They said, "We are not going to put this dog down. It doesn't need to be." So they called up a grooming and boarding place that also does rescue to come and get the dog. I was leaving while the dog was leaving and it still had a big ol' smile and was wagging its tail. It hopped right up into the car and kept smiling at the lady who left with it. Who in the world could have a dog for a day and then decide to kill it because it didn't like to be held? Me thinks she wanted a little purse dog and hated the fact that she couldn't hold it. I'm so glad that the dog wasn't put down and that it has a chance to find a better owner...that really ticked me off though. |

the woman was saying that she thought petstores seel only pure-breds because they need to pay alot of money
so she goes in looking at dogs and she sees a cock-a-poo and she thought it was a new pure-bred dog because petstores only seel "purebreds because they cost alot" she goes on the computer and searches for info about her new companion and sees that it is a cockerspaniel/poodle mix she wasn't happy so she e-mails me to try and get her hands off the dog I HATE BEING ON THE E-MAIL LIST AT THE SHELTER BECASUE I ALWAYS GET THE MOST STUPIDEST CASES OF OWNER SURRENDERS!!! |

That IS sad, Roman, and very pathetic on her part.
I'd say that if she had only done the research beforehand, she'd never have run into the problem at all, but she sounds like the type that would FIND a problem - and quite frankly, she doesn't sound like she should own any kind of dog at all. |

Ritz, that's awful!
What an absolutely horrible woman to want to kill her newly adopted dog after one day. Not even wanting to give it a chance back at the rescue/shelter she adopted it from. That just makes me want to cry...that poor pup. Glad the vet didn't put it down and glad it's now got a chance to find someone intelligent and compassionate to look after it. Roman...Yeah, that doesn't surprise me actually. You're average person doesn't even know what real pure breeds are out there it makes sense that they'd just believe anything they hear and not realise that those DD are mix breeds. Cass. |
