He/She is too big.
I despise this excuse and it's one of the most common excuses around. It just tells me how stupid, ignorant, selfish and uneducated the person is. Although it is difficult to tell what size a mixbreed will be as an adult it is not difficult to tell if it will be big or small. If you've got a pup with paws the size of a horse's hoof and you're expecting it to only grow to be the size of a yorkshire terrier...you're brain dead. ![]() Cass. |

My neighbor had an AS, who was never allowed in the house andwas terrified of fireworks. She would dig her way out of the yard around the 4th of July. One night I found her in the front yard covered in mud. Anyway, they got rid of her due to "her problem" and got a new dog, who is always in the house because he barks too much if out in the backyard.

I hate when I see adds in the paper "Free, no time for him/her" or "Moving, can't take with" , well you'll take your kids wont you ? How much I HATE these excuses, it's horrible they'll put a dog out with no thought in mind. The thing that bugs me the most is when they need to "get rid of" their dog, some people will actually add "could be a good breeder"..UGH that irks me so much !! I've seen ads like this in our paper more then once. It really bugs me how some people are. |

These are mostly stoopid and I really hate this one:
my new bf/gf doesn't like it It reminds the sicko woman who killed her kids because her man didn't want a woman with them. The "too much money at the vet" excuse is the only one I can sometimes understand. The person might have lost their job, got cancer or experienced some other financial hardship and can't care for the dog anymore. OTOH, Anyone who has a stupid excuse for giving up a dog should not be a dog owner anyway. |

I have also seen the DOG NOT MATCHING FURNITURE excuse. It actually scares me that excuse has come up more than once. I mean, COME ON - who cares? Do your kids match your furniture? And if those people are seriously that concerned, why didn't they just get dogs that matched their furniture (not that I advocate that kind of impulse buying), or furniture that matched their dogs?
The other one that really bugged me was "It's just not working out." This was said of two young Labradors who...get this, lived their lives locked in a shed in the backyard. Someone on God's green earth please tell me how on earth ANYTHING is going to work out if you lock your dogs in a shed and never work with them? They don't COME obedience trained! And if they spent 24/7 locked in this shed, what exactly did these people complain about? That the dogs barked, perhaps? Who wouldn't if they were locked in a shed? |

the dog is too stubborn or untrainable, especially if it's a pup and they've only had it a month or so..

hello? they dont match with the furniture? simple change the stupid furniture! what happens if the newborn baby doesnt match with the furniture will they change the baby or the furniture?
What do people mean the puppy was cute now its not. People should not be allowed to buy pets unless they are vetted so that they understand that just as a cute baby grows to be a some what less cute human so also a cute puppy will grow into a mature adult. Just as a baby needs to be potty trained amongst other things the same time, effort and trouble needs to be taken with the new arrival of any pet! Sorry these excuses have got me slightly worked up! |

But I prefer adult dogs. I prefer their looks, their behaviour etc... always have. I don't look at puppy pictures online very often because I prefer looking at the adult dogs. Seems weird to me to hear about people not liking a dog because it's grown out of the puppy stage. *sigh* Makes me mad. ![]() Cass. |
