The eyes speak volume's and she has the most tender. My heart aches for this precious girl being dumped in a strange place like that after spending 2 years with the only family she knew. I hope she finds all the happiness she can stand in your loving home. I hope the boys and her hit it off.

Congrats on the new girl! You will have to take pictures of the three of them next to each other when you get home. So cute!

Well when we got there the shelter employees informed us that Maya was adopted less then an hour before we got there.

At least she is in a warm home being loved and looked after...just wish it were mine.

I had a shelter do that to me and I got upset, well angry I should say.

They did know I was coming and they knew I was driving 2 hours to get there. They didn't care, they saw the opportunity to get her adopted and they took it. At least she has a family, that is the important thing.
Granted I cried all the way home but hey, that just means there is another sad and lonely Chocolate lab out there somewhere who will find a warm loving family with us.

Ohh no!

That's such a shame, especially because the shelter knew you were coming to view her. I wish they could have just waited for you to at least view her, but I guess they're working on a first-come first-serve basis (instead of viewing applicants and deciding on the best one). Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. I'm sure you'll come across another fantastic chocolate lab.

I tried not to get my hopes up.

But you know that just means there is another chocolate baby out there that was meant for you. I'm so sorry Mya didn't work out, though. Makes it worse that she was adopted out RIGHT beforehand, too! Sheesh!

Keep us updated on your search, Tribal. I'm anxiously waiting with you.

Aww Thanks again everyone. Yes I am so glad she is at least in a home being given the love she deserves and I agree, there is another out there for us. No hurry, she just seemed like she would be perfect, now she will just be perfect for someone else.

I'm so sorry this happen to you, but hopefully the dog has found a wonderful home. I do know that shelters can't hold dogs. It's a first come, first serve operation, so who ever you spoke to that was going to hold the dog, should be reported.
What you could do is call around to all the people who show these dogs and ask if they have any retired ones that you could adopt.

I know what you mean, but sometimes we can't get what we are looking for from the shelters. I guess it all depends on how long your willing to wait. I do know Chocolate labs are not an every day or even year occurence in shelters. You could also contact different Lab Rescues. This one in the central valley of CA. has some really nice looking chocolate Labs. My favorite is Fancy. She's 2 years old and smiling ear to ear.

You should fill out applications to all the Lab Rescue Groups in CA.
