I have an idea!
OK so I've been doing some searching around my hometown and there are no dog parks in my area!
In fact, there are only two in my state, Alabama, and they are an hour or four hours away. So I got to thinking, if I don't have one, I'll see if I can get one started! OK, crazy idea cause I can't do it by myself but also, what if ones already started? There is a Tuscaloosa Kennel meeting coming up which I'm going to try to attend and find out if there are any plans to start a dog park and if there are more people in my area interested in having an area where we can socialize our dogs. I even got into a little more homework and the only association or club for dog owners in my area is the Ttown Kennel so I'm wondering how in the world anyone socializes there dogs here! BTW I'm not originally from here, I'm from Birmingham, where there's a dog park. Anyone have any idea what all I would need to do to get this into action? I'm wondering if I can even do this; I'm not rich, I work a lot, I would need a lot a lot of people in the area interested and willing to help. I know a lot of people on here are in the CA area where there are dog parks galore! I have a lot of questions to ask: does the city run them, are the privately owned, do they stay crowded, how much space is needed; I have a lot of questions so any information is good information if anyone has any! Thanks! |

Here are some links that give you all the information you need to establish a dog park. Let us know how you do with this venture.

Great links! Thanks! The next kennel meeting is the 22nd at 7:30. Hopefully there will be more people there interested in this and I can get some help. It looks to be a HUGE undertaking! Also, I'm going to have to figure out how to fund something like this.
Tomorrow is my off day; I'm going to drive around and get a couple of locations in mind to for the kennel crew if plans aren't already underway. This is a college town; there's got to be some people interested in this here! |
