OMG = Oh My God

Trin, that's unbelievable. I'm so glad she's with you now, it's a shame her parents couldn't go with you as well. You'll have to post lots of pictures of your new pack member when you can.

Cass.

Congratulations! What a sad case this is.. but I'm so glad to hear that at least she could be taken away from that sort of horrible environment, though I do feel sorry for the other two dogs who are stuck there. I knew you'd find a fantastic dog sooner or later. I can't wait for more photos!

She is beautiful!

Oh my, that poor , poor girl... I can't believe any one would by a pup from that "breeder", that's horrible ! Sounds like that lady needs to get some sence knocked in her. Anyhoo, I'm glad every thing with Izzy is going great.. She sounds like a typical Labrador and she is so adorable ! She sounds like a very sweet and outgoing little labby..
I ,too, feel sad for the other 2 Labs she has.. Poor things

Yes this is the breeder with all of the testing that she has done with the documentation to back up the claims of testing as well. Guess it just goes to show that testing is not everything, it is only half of the responsibility battle.

I just up loaded some pics of her, I will post them in the pictures section.

As for the fleas all of my guys are on frontline plus so they should be protected from this new batch. We gave her a bath and got ride of what we could that way then we set her up with some of her own frontline plus.

she has not been on any heart worm preventative and with all those fleas she needs to be tested for heart worm then put on heart worm preventative.

I don't know what to do about the other two dogs, I mean they are over feed (so not starving) and have two large dog houses out in their yard for shelter....around here that is all that is absolutely required of you. i don't agree with how they are cared for but I don't think realistically there is much I can do about it.

I believe that it is animal cruelty for a dog to be covered with fleas like that and they can do something about that. They will at least give them a warning and hopefully they will start taking better care of their dogs.

I wondered about that because you said she was overweight. I don't think parasite infestation constitutes neglect or abuse, unfortunately, unless the dog(s) are showing symptoms of anemia or a parasitic disease type thing.

I have never heard of a breeder that would do health testing and put money there and still have no clue what they're doing. That is the oddest thing.

Something that can be prevented, but isn't, and causes discomfort to a dog is considered neglect in my opinion. Have you seen a dog literally covered in hundreds of fleas? It really isn't nice.

While I agree with you both whole heartedly, a flea problem under her county laws would not be a reason for them to remove the dogs. As long has the dogs are feed and have shelter the animal control in her area will not so much as site her. The animal control in her area are focused on dog fighting which is a HUGE problem where she lives. Most of the laws governing animals in that county are directed towards dog fights, chaining and such.

She is in a different county then I am, here they have enacted stronger laws re: animal abuse and neglect. I am actually quite good friends with a few of the animal control officers around here, so I will be talking with them to get their take on the situation and see if maybe they know someone in that county who would be willing to step in.

ETA: Thanks Fancy, she is having a blast with them AND she slept in bed with us last night. Not only did she not have a single accident in the house, she didn't move from the bed all night. She would cuddle up to my husband and then cuddle up to me and when our toddler came in and got in bed with us this morning she gave him room, then cuddled up to him.
She is outside playing with the boys right now and having a great time.

Hey hey now... too much is going on since I've been gone. LOL No internet on my computer STINKS! Ugh..

Anyways, CONGRATS! She looks like a doll! I think her droopy eyes add to her character. What a sweetie.

It's unfortunate about the living conditions that she and her parents were in. That's terrible. But atleast you've gotten one dog out of there. Did you try talking to the lady about the possibility of the dogs getting heartworm from having all of the fleas?

Looking forward to hearing more about her
