Pursuant to section 326 of the USA PATRIOT Act, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Securities and Exchange Commission require PayPal Funds to obtain, verify and store the following information for each investor in the PayPal Money Market Fund.

• Name
• Address
• Date of Birth (for individuals)
• Tax Identification number (social security number for individuals or employer identification number for businesses)

As of January 14, 2005, PayPal will begin collecting date of birth (for individuals only) when customers open Money Market Fund accounts. This is required by federal regulations and is in addition to investor information, i.e., name, address and tax identification number, which was previously collected, verified and stored for all investors in the PayPal Money Market Fund.

I'm closing my PayPal account January 13th, government has no business poking their nose in my or your business transactions without due process.

No, this is just for money market accounts, yet I know that PayPal already keeps information like that for all their users and because of the PATRIOT act, they are required to give it to the government.

Kids, kids, kids. I have been worrying about Big Brother since before you were born. It's good to worry about such things. But remember: If you know how to build it and how it works, you can tear it down if you have to. I remember being freaked out about installation of 2-way cable tv lines in the 70's.

What? The PATRIOT Act was rushed through in the middle of the night with no one reading it...I support giving law enforcement more power after 9/11, but giving them unlimited power, giving them the right to invade my privacy in the name of freedom is wrong.

We are in a war against those who would harm us and take away the rights we hold so dear...yet in the act of defending ourselves, we have taken away those rights...its a paradox where only the terrorists win, because they have caused us to cower in fear, allow the searches of private information without due cause.

How can we defend freedom if the PATRIOT Act takes it away?

And now, George W. Bush is planning to rush another version of the PATRIOT Act through...that would further beat back our rights...where do you draw the line?
