Angry Pet Stores (rant)

I know I've ranted about this before but I can't help it. Me and my mom went shopping yesterday and while we were in the mall she wanted me to stop and see this Basset puppy that gave her the saddest puppy dog eyes that was in the PetStore. (I think it is called Pass Pet?)
We went into the store (I wasn't wanting to but she wanted me to see the dog so I was like, 'Fine.') and there was a blue-zillion people in there looking at all of the puppies. A lady had just bought a poodle (I think?) and another family was looking at a Vishla. (I think. That is what it looked like, anyways.)
I felt like smacking everybody in there across the head and yelling, ' You DINGELS!!! Don't buy from a PetStore unless you want to be supporting Puppy Mills! How many of you have even heard of a Vishla before you saw it in the store and you just decided to buy it because it was so cute?!? Can you give it the exercise it needs? Do you realize it can have a preydrive and might eat your Rodents?!!!'
Anyways, After she showed me the Basset pup, we left the store and we started to go to Old Navy. I was really mad because Pet Stores tick me off now and I said, 'Just you wait. Those people in there are going to buy a puppy for their kids. And then 2 months later, the puppy won't be cute anymore, it still won't be trained and the kids will be bored with it, so then it will be in the shelter being PTS.'
THen she said, 'You know, one of these days I'm going to buy a puppy from in there with you with me just so I can make you mad.' (She was joking.)
So I said, 'Take me to a shelter to pick out a dog and I'll go with you gladly. But I will NOT buy a dog from in there.'
Then she said, 'I don't want to get a dog from a shelter because you know nothing about its background.'
Then I replied with, 'And you know what those Pet Store puppies backgrounds are?'

That shut her up but, I was still mad. (I cooled off really quickly though.) I wish selling puppies in PetStores were illegal........

I admit shyly I got Kino from a pet store, but I also knew the dangers of it before I got him. I knew I had chances for health, behavior, etc problems and I was willing to take that chance, but I knew I had the knowldge and money to try and fix what I could.
While I do believe most are millers/byb there are a few that arnt, they are just severly missguided. I got lucky and Kino is a great dog, and in good health...but NOT EVERYONE is as lucky as I was. I do not recomend doing it at all... do as I say not as I do...

and even with my baby from a store Id love to see it outlawed too

I can't and won't go into a petstore. No way. Huh-uh ain't happenin. I don't even want to think how I'd act.. and even more so if I saw "my" breed there. Not good, not good at all. I don't have the money to bail myself outta jail.

Pet Shops make me mad too. The last time I was at one I played with a poor German Shepherd puppy. She'd be 5 months old now . I felt so bad for the pups....it stank so bad with bleach, four Golden puppies were stuffed in one cage the big enough for two Chihuahua puppies to stay in for 5 minutes..... I refuse to by ANYTHING from ANY place that sells puppies and/or kittens.

I went to a petstore tosday with a friend. I would NEVER buy one from in there. They were SO sad but so cute also. But the thing is the had a Itailian Greyhound that was blue that was about 3 times smaller than my chihuahua. The also had a Boxer/Rottweiler for 249.00. No way. The had a very mis-behaved JRT in there for 225.00. A huge Chihuahua that was already sold. A Pom that bit me when I was going to pet her. Brintle French Bulldogs for about 500. It was really sad. I would love for it to be made illegal.

I hate pet shops too.. I agree with Kino though, there are some, but very few, that come from okay backgrounds.

The couple we got Denali from had bought her in a pet store. The place was called "Puppy Palace". I never realized it until about 2 months ago. We're lucky that she doesn't have any health problems so far, besides a snorting incident, but we THINK she may have Hip Dysplasia But she's the most wonderful dog.

I went into a pet shop once that had a corgi puppy in there. I played with it for like an hour, and wanted it so bad (before I knew about pet stores). I've always liked corgis and are probably one of the few little dogs that I would like to own.

I hate the pet store down my street, she sells puppies, kittens, birds, fish, reptiles, rodents. Anything you could possibly think of. The puppies are kept caged off with shredded paper on the floor. One time I went in there and the paper was all peed on and there were feces. They obviously didn't clean up very well... My cousin bought a papillon puppy from there about 6-7 years ago. I think when they first held her, she threw up... she's very skittish, and her coat isn't in good shape. The only thing I don't like is she's very very shy...

That is so sad. Well the man I talked to today in the Pet Shop told me that the Itailian Greyhounds were Great little dogs and 450 was a great price for a rare blue one. I was like okay whatever.

Hrm. Well I'd tell your mom (even if she was just joking) that it will be more rewarding to get you a pup from a reputable breeder, because you most likely will not have to deal with as many (if any) genetic health problems, temperament issues, etc. Plus, you get an idea of what the pup's background is like.

Pet stores make me angry as well.. I haven't been in any that sell puppies or kittens in a long time.. (Unless you count petsmart, who has pups and kittens as well as adult dogs and cats available for adoption)

Around here some pet stores work with the local animal shelter to adopt dogs. My companies pet store does not keep dogs or kittens however, Since that raises there insurance rates.

Ya, I don't care about PetStores helping Shelters. (i.e. taking the shelter dogs and trying to find homes for them.) Just most Pet Stores contribute to the pet population problem. Mom said one time she was walking by the PetStore in the mall, they had 'Puggles' in the front window. I would have gotten really ticked and started ranting and raving if I was with her at the time.
It's just hard to convince my family members that Pet Store puppies are from PMs because the one Pet Store dog we know is my Grandma's Mini Schnauzer and she has so far been a pretty healthy dog and has a pretty good temperment. (Aside from the fact that she is snappy.)
I think the only ones in my family who really care are my Little Brother, Wesley (he is turing out to be a dog lover just like me ) and maybe my Little Sis, JeanAnne. My older Brother, Jacob, puts on the attitude of, 'Most people just want a dog for a pet. Not for show. Who cares if it doesn't have the right shape of feet or it is the wrong color or is smaller than normal?'
