Just for wiggling at her! Shows great character on Dracs' part though. I hate to think how she really does treat her own dogs.

Kudos, Darkness and Dracs, for showing such maturity. The idiot woman will learn her lesson one day. The next dog she does that to may not be as forgiving of her as Dracs was. I'm sure he realized how ignorant that lady was and chose not to even react to her. Smart dog, you have there, Darkness.

I can't even imagine how I would react if someone did something like that to my little guy. Makes me see red just thinking about it.

WOW, how did you stay so calm? Seriously, if anyone ever did something like that to one of my dogs, they'd be in BIG trouble!!

I ask myself that a lot. It's been a very slow transition but let's just say less then a year ago she'd been on the floor begging me to quit hitting her...
So I am proud of myself for being able to control myself the way I did..as well as putting up with her nasty comments about the way she thought my kitchen was outdated...

That is just so rude. I really would have said something even ruder to her. Sounds like a (female dog) to me. Sorry about that but its just so rude how people can do and say things to hurt other people ( and their pets.) Erin

An English Setter is her "unruly big dog", ehh? If he's typical of the breed, he's one of the softest dogs out there.. A firm "NO" would send an ES into depression. Maybe he's young and rambunctious as many of the sporting breeds are, but that's not unruly and not a fair reason to pull a dog's collar to the point of hurting it.

For me, it's like, "These are MY dogs, I discipline them. Not you, the guest!" If they aren't your dogs you don't even have the right to touch them (imo). My brother-in-law was once terribly annoyed with Colby because she wouldn't quit barking at him. We discipline the girls with a firm "NO!" and maybe a slap on the butt (not so it hurts them, just so they realize we are SERIOUS). Well he leaned over and slapped her. My sister who has two kids and eight dogs jumps up and yells at him. He is part of the family and gets along pretty well with my girls, they like him and he's very nice to them, but I guess you could say he crossed the line there. That didn't bug me as much as some things, like one relative saying, "NO, MAYBERRY!" because she was doing the sniff/butt thing....I don't like to see the dogs sniffing each other's "ends" and occasionally I will tell them to quit it, but that's for ME to say, not some person that knows basically nothing about dogs etc.. Gotta go.

This lady sounds like somebody you dont need to know.
I dont even lock my dogs anywhere when somebody comes in. They live with me, anybody objects to it is welcome to stay out. Touch them in any other than kind way, you out on your ***.
She was very lucky she was not bitten. And her dog needs rehoming.

Did I say a bad word? Sorry!

Sorry I caught this late.. I missed this thread..

Good job for keeping your cool! I would have screamed a few nasty things to her, and threw her out of my house...

Denali and Sheiba won't let strangers do that to them. Sheiba is picky about strangers, and doesn't like sudden movements. If it were Sarge, he probably would have done the same thing your Dracs did... if I had said "Tell um Bub!" He would have started growling or if I went *gasp*. But actually, come to think about it, if it was a sudden thing, he would have bitten her for sure. Sarge has a pretty good sense of telling who's good and whose nasty.

I feel bad for her dog I would have asked her when she made comment that they need to live outside "Why even bother owning a dog?"

Isn't that kind of telling you how to raise your "children"? Everyone has different ways, and values, but like you said, You don't abuse your dogs to teach them right from wrong.

One of the little kids of the neighborhood helps me walk the dogs sometimes. Well he'll start to yell at Denali if she starts barking, or gets rough when she plays, and I have to tell him "She's not doing anything wrong, she's just playing, leave her be" or, he'll yank on their leash because they pull. That annoys me the most... I kindly ask in a semi raised voice "Please DON'T pull on the leash!"

People like that shouldn't own a dog.. I'd hate to see the way she raises children...
