i started a beginners training class

with niko

so far there are some dogs i really like and they get along with all the other dogs there

then there is the exception with one dog...his name is max and is an 8 month old germanshepherd and his owner is in a wheelchair and the owmer brought along his 8 year old son who really can't handle the dog....and the dog really likes other dogs so the boy lets the dog ruin the class for everyone else because the shepherd likes to chase the other dogs

but thats enough about that

so in the class there is:

bella-a malti-poo
zeus- a black lab
ellie- a wondeful bull dog
jenny- a papillon
max-the german shepherd
niko-the maltese

sofar it is going great the thing with max happend last week

now there is also a new boxer named tony

the owners of zeus wanted their kids to be apart of the training so they brought their son and daughter

one problem i had was that the daughter kept giving all the dogs treats and must have really liked niko because she gave im ALOT and now he is having gas problems

but i am not angry about that because niko is doing better now and is sleeping in my lap

sorry if this sounded more of a rant than a good news post

Sounds like a fun, yet frustrating experience.
I'd ask people not to give my dogs treats without permission, the last thing you want is diarrhea.

yeah he had the diareah but is over that by now and he is just having the random farts now

i even told her to stop as did her parent but you cant always get them to stop

it is actually going pretty well despite those 2 incidents

my trainer even started us with clicker training even though its a beginner class

Hehe, sounds like fun. That's too bad about the owner in the wheelchair. They're trying to do the right thing and having a hard time with it! If you're big enough, maybe you should offer to trade dogs until their's learns to sit or something.

And I agree, I'd ask the little girl not to give Niko treats because too many will upset his tummy.

Sounds like a typical training class really! Gotta love the people that bring their kids that they can't control and usually their dog is just as bad

When I've been in classes with "problem" dogs, they are separated right away, and one of the instructors shows the owner how to get the dog to focus, or even works the dog a distance away from the rest of the class. Come to think of it, I guess most every class I've had has had at least two people running it, maybe for that reason. And passing out indiscrimate treats in class is pretty counter-productive. The instructor should be all over that, and (kindly) explain that you can't interfere with anyone else's dog. Sounds like a little more structure wouldn't hurt.
