Trying to get this going

Some of us at my college are wanting to start up a group called SAAW-Students Advocating Animal Welfare. I think it is great that there are people around here that care.
We have an aim of:
This group is aimed at issues in our community surrounding animal welfare. We can help end unnecessary animal suffering.

But I was wondering if anyone knew of more I could put to get people interested. We are wanting to help the local shelters around the surounding towns. We have a shelter here in town and then some about thrity miles out each direction.

Any ideas on fundraisers or things you have done or do to help your local shelter?

Find out what all they would like to have, then you can type up a flyer of all the things needed, the day you can pick them up and put these flyers on peoples doors in the neighbor. Keep a clip board on the addresses you put these. You could also hold a garage sale and have a big donation jar with a picture on the pound dogs on the jar. Go to garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores to buy what you need.
You are doing such a wonderful service. Keep us up on everything.

Yeah Im not sure we'll beable to get it as an offical school group but I think that some of us will do things regardless. I already donate blankets and towels to my vet buy getting old ones from hotels. Who knows...
